Are you a teenager struggling to figure out how to make the most out of your life? You are not alone. As a teenager, it can be tough to navigate life’s challenges and find your place in the world.

But don’t worry, because in this blog I’m going to share with you 6 essential life lessons that every teenager should know. Whether you’re looking to improve yourself, build stronger relationships, or simply enjoy life more fully, these lessons will guide you in the right direction. So sit back, relax, and get ready to learn how to take your life to the next level.

Lesson 1: Take More Photos

Importance of Memories

Many people learn this late in life, but you should take more photos during your teenage years. Your older self will thank you, and today it is so easy to take photos and store them online in the cloud, so you don’t have to worry about storage problems.I bought an iPhone 13 a few months ago, so I have no excuses for not taking photos because of the quality. Therefore, I take lots of photos because I have an external hard drive, and they don’t take up much space, so you can maybe use them later.

My experience

Personally, I enjoy looking back at my photos and videos from a year ago. You can also see how you have changed over time. Apple has a beautiful feature called “Memories” that automatically creates short videos with music from your trips.

What you should do

I don’t think it hurts to take some more pictures, so give it a try and see if it is worth it for you. For me, it is definitely worth it.Just don’t take too many photos because you should still enjoy the activity and not feel tempted to only take photos.

For example, I had a trip to London where I took lots of pictures that I can use as memories.

Lesson 2: Write a Journal

How a Journal benefits you

Writing a journal is very liberating and relaxing. You can simply write down your ideas and feelings so you don’t forget them. I would recommend writing a digital journal to avoid the risk of losing your journal book.

You can develop yourself by asking the right questions in your journal. Here’s my approach:

For example, I journal every day and then I summarize my month of journaling using chatgpt.

Way to Journal

There are different ways to journal. One way is to journal every day and reflect on the things you did. Another way is to journal monthly and write down anything you find worth remembering or reflecting on. I also wrote a blog about journaling.

Lesson 3: Start with Investing

Benefits of Investing

Investing has lots of benefits. One is that you hopefully earn more money, and another is that you also feel emotionally better knowing you have enough money to live your life.

Starting to invest at a young age is amazing because of the compound effect. I also did a blog about the compound event.I started investing in October 2022, and I am proud of this.

Simple Ways to get started

Basically, you can open a bank account with a neo broker and then buy an ETF, which is like a low-cost fund with a diversified portfolio. You can buy a global ETF and expect an average 5% return after fees and taxes. In the future, I will create a step-by-step blog specifically for young people who want to start investing.

Lesson 4: Do Important Things in the Morning

Benefits

You will feel much better if you complete the most challenging tasks in the morning. Or if you engage in tasks that you enjoy and get into a productive flow. For example, studying for school in the morning feels better and allows you to have it done, leaving time for fun activities like watching YouTube.

Morning Routine

Having a great morning routine can make your day more positive and productive. It helps wake up your brain and body, allowing you to start working. I also did a blog about how to find your morning routine.

I personally do 10 minutes of Yoga every day, and it gives me energy for the day. Without it, I would probably be less productive.

Lesson 5: Study Every Day a Bit Rather Than Cramming

Benefits

Taking small steps every day towards studying is much easier than cramming a lot in a few days.

Cramming is not beneficial for your learning and grades. It requires discipline to study every day, but over time, it becomes automatic.

Tips for better studying

My tips are to use Anki for studying and to utilize the Pomodoro technique. I also wrote a blog about the pomodoro technique. Personally, I take the time every day to create flashcards from the material I learned in school. Each morning, I review these flashcards.

Lesson 6: Stop Worrying About What Others Think

The Issue

A common problem is that people worry too much about what others think of them. I myself experienced this early on in life and sometimes made decisions based on it.

Building self-confidence is crucial, and the opinions of others should not affect you, especially those of strangers.

Strategies to get confident

Often, you may think about what others are thinking about you, but in 9 out of 10 cases, people don’t actually think or pay attention to you. And even if they do, they will likely forget about it after a few minutes. I am also not perfect at this, but I am improving over time.
