Youtube is a great platform for people who are too creative and love making videos. This platform has given careers to many and following that I also planned to have such.
One of my very close friends started a Youtube channel where he use to upload dubbed videos and use to make around $1000–$2000 per month through Adsense and even through sponsorship. I can’t share his channel as I am not allowed to share.
He advised me to start my own YouTube channel with whatever niche I love too. I thought a lot and finally, I decided to start my channel.
Do you know, what are those big mistakes I had committed due to which my channel failed? I am going to list down all those and trust me you will also love to know.
- Niche or Category decision
It is very much important for a person to decide the niche or category of the channel before making a start. This niche is something that interests you to read, learn and create something amazing that you will enjoy.
This is where I made a mistake. While starting my channel, I randomly started posting videos. Initially, I had posted tech videos, digital marketing, then trending topics and finally work from home or earn money online videos.
My channel subscribers came from different categories who were from mixed categories. Some were interested in tech, some in digital marketing, some in food vlogs and some in make money online videos.
Due to these random postings, my channel didn't receive good views on videos and channels.
2. Quality of Videos
I always believed in posting a good number of videos. I tried posting more and more videos but I missed that I have to present a quality video that should have a good background of the video, your attire should be good and even your presentation.
You must be flawless with your talk and your eyes should be straight like you are talking to your audience.
3. Good Thumbnail
As I have always read a number of articles where they talk about good thumbnails but what is good thumbnail entails to.
A short creative presentation of your video that should talk about your video. Image and text should be aligned in a proper way. In simple, your thumbnail should attract users to click on that. This is what it is called Click Through Rate (CTR).
I also lacked on this side and due to this also my videos use to receive few or no views.
4. Title, Description & Tags
I am sure, many of you have watched videos or read articles where they also talk about title, description & tags.
The question is, ‘How do you find a good title, description & tags?’
Whatever video topics you are doing, just type the phrase in the Youtube search box.
The top 10 videos which you find are the best ones that have ranked in Youtube searches.
You can copy the title and make a bit of edit and use them for your video. You can also use multiple keywords in your title within 100 characters.
Include multiple keywords in your description of the video and also share your social media handles from where people can navigate to your social profiles.
If you are good at keywords research then you can use those in the tags of your video or whatever videos that you find in youtube rank, you can copy the Youtube video link and extract the keywords.
Now, you can use the same keywords as your video ones and publish your content.
You know, what mistake I did? I never used searchable keywords in the title, description or tags. I use to simply publish them and wait to get that to become viral.
5. Sub4Sub
There are plenty of Sub4Sub groups on social media channels like Facebook, Telegram and Whatsapp. If you want to get immediate subscribers then this is the best and easy way.
The biggest drawback of these subscribers is that these are dead subscribers that are least bothered about engaging with your channel. They neither watch nor even share like your videos. So, getting big numbers are good for nothing.
This is what I did the biggest mistake. I did sub4sub and gained 1000+ dead subscribers to monetize my channel. My channel got monetized but it never received views after video uploads.
I think this was my biggest mistake for which I am still suffering and I feel none of us should do this to gain useless subscribers.
