5 Simple Tips On How You Can Finally Create A Strong Mindset In 2024

Now, we have more advice than ever to build a strong mindset, yet most people fail to do so.

Are you tired of falling short of your expectations? Do you finally want to get things going in 2024? And could you use a positive outlook on the new year?

All you need is a strong mindset. How?

By following these 5 simple tips:

Understanding the power of positivity

Positivity isn’t you looking at yourself in the mirror, smiling.

It doesn’t mean gratitude and affirmations every single morning.

Positivity is an unshakable attitude.

It means believing in the idea that things will get better (again).

My mother knows how to stay positive.

She came as an immigrant with nothing from Eastern Germany to Western Germany. Her brother scammed her for the inheritance of their mother. She got breast cancer.

Of course, she was f*cked up. Every. Single. Time.

But she stayed positive (and survived).

Because she knew that this was the only option. She never looked back, she looked towards a better future. That’s why I admire her.

But my mother isn’t holy. You can do the same.

Because:

Our life is, what are our thoughts make it.” — Marcus Aurelius

We all have the power to be and stay positive.

We just need to embrace it.

Positivity is a perception. A perception that can help you overcome the biggest hardships life has to offer. Yet, it has to be cultivated daily.

Adopting a growth mindset

You’ve read this 1000x before.

At least, you should have.

If you didn’t: there are two types of people.

  • People with fixed mindsets.
  • People with growth mindsets.

People with fixed mindsets think they reach a certain point where their views won’t change anymore. They think their mindset is unchangeable.

People with growth mindsets know they can always learn.

Guess, who’s better suited for life?

Things just change.

For the better. Or for the worse.

Having a growth mindset prepares you for both.

Why?

Because it enables you to learn and get better every day.

Not only because you must, but because you want.

How?

By believing in yourself, becoming better with EVERYTHING you do and learn. Yes, everything.

Even if you have a horrible relationship and break-up. Because you’ve learned your lesson to avoid dating a psycho and do it better next time?

Fixed mindset, people would just run to the next psycho. Because they believe they are just the way they are.

You are until you aren’t.

You can change. Everybody can change.

But you need to:

a) believe in it (aka growth mindset)

b) start working on yourself

A growth mindset is your foundation for becoming a better human being.

It empowers you to do things better, than you did yesterday.

Embrace it. Cultivate it. Every. Single. Day.

Practice meditation and mindfulness

Most people underestimate the power of self-reflection.

I did, too.

When I first heard about meditation 10 years ago, I thought it was humbug:

  • a silly way to sit.
  • a dumb way to sleep.
  • and a boring way to spend your time.

Turned out, it’s not.

Meditation and mindfulness are the easiest ways of self-reflection.

Sitting down, and letting your thoughts run by, makes you realize how insecure you are. How resentful. How intolerant.

But it also opens the door to becoming better.

It boosts your creativity. It fosters your self-discipline. And it enables you to enjoy the little things.

It makes you an overall better human being.

Before you ask me where to start and what to do.

You can meditate everywhere. At all times.

Just put your phone away. Relax and observe.

Close your eyes. See what comes up.

That’s literally it.

Meditation helps you to build self-discipline. And to get to know yourself better. It’s the foundation of a strong mindset.

Setting achievable goals

Don’t aim for the moon, if you don’t have a rocket.

You can have the best goals, but if they are too abstract, they won’t get you anywhere. You need to start and work towards smaller goals.

Why?

Otherwise, you’ll lose your motivation. That’s for sure.

When I started writing for the first time, I had the expectation of earning money from it. Of course, I didn’t. Instead, I found myself demotivated. I stopped writing.

That’s not how it works.

You can’t expect to get abs from doing crunches for the first time in years.

You can’t expect millions to read your content if you only started writing online.

Likewise, you can’t expect to run a marathon if you just started running.

But you can expect other things.

You can expect to feel your sore abs.

You can expect some people to read your content and give you feedback.

Not only that, but you can expect to get better endurance.

That’s where you need to start.

You can set big goals.

But you need smaller goals, you want to achieve first.

This will change everything.

You decrease the pressure you put on yourself, stay motivated, and can finally focus on what you really want to achieve.

Build your rocket first, then fly to the moon.

Embracing failure and learning from it

“Failure is not an option.” is the most ridiculous saying ever.

It should be: “Failure is the best option to keep growing.”

We hate failure.

Failure has such a bad stigma, it’s incredible.

Whoever fails, is a loser.

But as Rocky Balboa famously said:

“Every champion was once a contender who refused to give up.”

Failing doesn’t make you a loser.

Instead, it can even make you a champion, if you keep going, learning, and improving. Failures are the best way to improve yourself.

If everything goes well, you can’t improve.

Failures give you a chance and a reason to improve.

Still, most of my life failing scared the sh*t out of me.

I was horrified, whenever I had a slip-up as a goalie. It would haunt me the following matches, making me more insecure on the pitch.

Most people, even most parents, don’t accept failing. And it’s so stupid. Because with this attitude, we’ll never get better.

We’ll simply give up:

  • when one article doesn’t go viral.
  • when we can’t manage to run the marathon.
  • when we don’t land our dream job.
  • when life hits us hard.

That’s why it’s so important to embrace failure. Failure is an essential part of life and if we try to avoid it, we try to avoid living altogether.

Embrace failures and learn from them. They are the best teachers you can ever have. Don’t take it personally, everyone gets their fair share of failures in life.

Failures are the best way to improve yourself.
