5 Simple Lifestyle Changes With Big Impacts For A Healthy Body

“Take care of your body. It’s the only place you have to live.” — Jim Rohn

Where It All Began:

It was 2016. I just started to work on my first solo project after I left working in the IT industry. Right about that time, my father started to get unwell.

He was not able to eat properly. Nor he was able to walk properly and was trying to catch his breath after a little walk.

He started to lose his weight at an alarming rate and his blood reports showed that his hemoglobin level dropped significantly. It was at 7Hb! Whereas a healthy male should have his normal hemoglobin range between 13.5Hb to 17.5Hb.

We went to see a few doctors, but nothing major was diagnosed.

Meanwhile, his health kept on deteriorating. Until one doctor suggested to do an MRI scan.

Then the result came out after a few days.

It was a tumor inside his colon. It needed to be operated immediately. So, he was hospitalized. And while he was still in the hospital, he had a major heart attack. And he was taken to the ICU.

It was one of the most difficult periods of my life.

I felt total despair.

Yet, I somehow still managed to hold the fort.

When I try to remember those days, I can’t believe that it was my reality at some point in my life.

But then that phase taught me a lot of very important lessons I couldn’t have learned otherwise. It also led me into a trajectory towards healthy living.

After my father came back home, I started to research deeply on health and recovery. I read a lot of books, watched documentaries, and emailed doctors. And ended up collecting a lot of valuable information. It helped me to start living consciously.

Good Physical Health is a Lifestyle

To have good physical health, I learned that a whole gamut of things needs to be taken care of. It is not only about watching what you are putting in your mouth, but the entire environment should support you to stay healthy.

Here are a few of the things I did when my father came back home after his operation:

Switched the salt:

The normal salt available in the market is generally bleached to make the salt appear whiter in color. As it is bleached and processed, the salt loses most of its natural properties.

I discovered a healthy alternative to the normal salt is the Himalayan Pink Salt. It contains a lot of minerals that are good for the overall health of the body.

Switched the cooking oil:

Some refined oils may contain trans-fat and high amounts of poly-saturated omega-6 fats which are linked to several diseases in the body. As such, I found the organic cold-pressed cooking oil to be a better alternative to refined cooking oil.

Cold-pressed oils are extracted without the use of any heat keeping the nutritional quality intact.

Switched the toothpaste:

Most of the toothpaste brands have fluoride in it. Even though it is said to fight cavity, it can still lead to toxicity and adverse health effects.

Also, the foam we experience inside our mouth while brushing our teeth has nothing to do with teeth or gum health. These harmful foaming agents are added so that we get a nice soft feeling inside our mouth while brushing.

Hence, I swapped the everyday toothpaste to a fluoride-free and form free one.

Switched the household products:

We usually do not read the ingredient list of our daily household products. The soaps, shampoos, detergents, floor cleaners, dishwashers, etc.

All of these products contain a cocktail of chemicals not friendly to the human body. Once I started to read the ingredient list and look up each one of them on Google, I replaced each product with an alternative organic and chemical-free one.

Switched the plastic bottles and containers:

Plastic bottles and containers contain certain chemicals called BPA, BPS, and BPF. These chemicals usually seep into the contents of the plastic bottles and containers and ultimately into our bodies. It results in the alteration of the body’s natural biochemical processes that turns into different health issues.

The best alternative I found to this was switching to glass bottles and glass containers in the kitchen and around our house.

To Sum It Up All:

Lifestyle has a big role to play when it comes to living healthy and consciously. It’s not just about the right food or the right amount of exercise. But the entire environment should support the decision of healthy living.

Let me know in the comments below what other lifestyle changes do you think we should consider!
