Every day, 500 million tweets are being sent. Your single tweet is less than a drop in the ocean. The good news is, there are also 353 million Twitter users. With consistent activities on Twitter, you can grow your follower base and reach.

Your Followers and reach can help you grow your side hustle, enhance your personal brand and help you reach more people with your voice.

If you are starting out on Twitter, check this article out to know how to grow your Twitter following.

You should know by now that Twitter is about consistently posting, engaging, and using its features. Of course, your tweets‘ content should be coherent enough. But bottom line is, you have to spend time on the platform. However, It’s not always possible to spend the amount of time Twitter demands.

To help you with that, I suggest you use Tweetdeck — a tool provided by Twitter for free. Before we get to why you should use it, let’s see what exactly it is.

Twitter describes Tweetdeck as —

Tweet like a pro. The most powerful Twitter tool for real-time tracking, organizing, and engagement. Reach your audiences and discover the best of Twitter.

This is how it looks —

My Tweetdeck layout looks like the image above. It has different columns dedicated to types of information —

Home — This shows the Twitter homepage

Notifications — Shows all Twitter notifications

Activity — Activities of people I follow

Trending — Currently set as trending topics in Canada. You can choose countries or worldwide as the region

Mentions — Anyone who has tagged me in their posts shows up here

Scheduled — Tweets I have scheduled

Messages — Messages I have received

You can also add more columns and change their orders.

Now let’s dive into why you should use Tweetdeck. If you’ve read the article on growing Twitter followers, you know that experts recommend tweeting 15 times a day! That is a huge number. Tweetdeck can help you get close to that.

You shouldn’t start tweeting 15 times just because someone said so. Start with 23 times a day and then increase. If you can immediately jump to 15 per day, that’s great! But it’s better to be consistent. It doesn’t make sense if you tweet 15 times today and 0 times tomorrow.

Reason 01 — Engagement made easy

Everything you need is in one place.

It makes life simpler! Although the columns may look chaotic at first, you’ll get used to it. You can quickly check all of the important aspects and move on to the next. Because of that, Tweetdeck saves time.

You can check your inbox, notifications, the home page, and what people you follow are doing. You can read 20 tweets, share a react, retweet them or drop a comment in less than 5 minutes. Twitter encourages that you engage with others so Tweetdeck makes that easy.

On top of that, you can see who has followed you or mentioned you. You can send a thank you or welcome tweet to new followers. You can also retweet or comment on your mentions. All of these are possible without leaving Tweetdeck.

Reason 02 — Schedule Tweets easily

I have at least one tweet scheduled every day for the next 4 months. I did that scheduling in 3 hours. I plan to spend another 3 hours this month to add more to daily tweets.

When you know what you want to post, it becomes simpler. I write regularly on Medium, so I obviously have one article scheduled for every day. I talk about traveling, cricket, gaming, productivity, career, etc. So, I can schedule a gif from The Office for some days. I can schedule the quotes I post on Instagram sometimes.

If I want to tweet 10–15 times a day, I can’t do that by actively tweeting. My schedule won’t allow it. But if 4–5 of them are pre-scheduled, it becomes easier for me. My guess is it will be easier for you too.

Reason 03 — Find tweets to retweet

If you post about cooking, you should follow all influencers in the space of food. The idea is, you should have good tweets related to your niche in your homepage.

James Clear, the author of Atomic Habits, once tweeted

When you choose who to follow on Twitter, you are choosing your future thoughts.

So, a random following is not recommended. If you follow accounts with ignorant or hateful tweets, those will gradually impact you. Also, Twitter will start showing more of those to you. Instead, choose who you want to follow and stick to that strategy.

You should then find posts to engage with. You can retweet the ones that resonate with you. As per CoSchedule, you can retweeting up to 7 times a day is acceptable.

Reason 04 — Check which hashtags/topics are trending in a location

If you want to target users in a specific country, you can check which hashtags are trending. That will give you an idea about what to tweet to ride the bandwagon.

As you can see, you can choose a country from the drop-down menu. The trending list will change accordingly.

The trending list covers both popular hashtags and topics. Today in Canada, the #Appleevent hashtag is trending — so is the topic iPhone 13. You can send out a tweet sharing your views about the new phone and the event. That will give you some reach as that’s what a lot of people are interested in now.

If you use the scheduler to schedule 5, retweet 7 and use trendng hashtags to write 3 tweets, you will reach 15 tweets in a day. In reality, you will only have to tweet 3 times!

Reason 05 — All of these for free

It’s a complete scheduling tool. And you get all of these for free!

I was surprised too when I started using it. I thought after using it for a bit they will ask me to pay. But that didn’t happen. Twitter developed this dashboard. They made it part of the deal for all users.
