5 Lessons I Learned in My 20s to Sidestep Stress in My 60s
My journey from a whopping $50 per month to $1500 per month, made me learn to live

I’m 26 now, Married and Happy.
Earning pretty well from my LinkedIn and Upwork clients. However, writing this article about the time back when I was 18, my parents couldn’t foot the bill for my college education.
They dropped a bombshell, telling me that if I wanted that degree, I had to hustle for the funds myself.
The catch? I wasn’t exactly a hotshot candidate for a high-paying tech job.
So, with my limited experience, I found myself teaching a bunch of energetic 2 to 4-year-olds at a primary school.
The pay? A whopping $50 per month. Barely enough to cover my college fees of $40 per month for a private bachelor’s program.
Fast forward two years, and I snagged a gig at a call center that finally paid me a decent $200 per month.
After changing my jobs and career, I finally landed my dream job as a content writer and also some high-paying clients from Germany and the UK.
The road to this point was anything but a cakewalk. But hey, every twist and turn taught me a thing or two about survival.
1. Experimenting with Every Opportunity:
From the ripe age of 18, I became the chief experimenter of opportunities.
While some folks shy away from trying their hand at various jobs, I embraced it all.
Small gigs, big tech firms, fat paychecks, and even dabbling in small businesses.
The journey started at 18 and continued until 25, and after eight roller-coaster years, I found my sweet spot in freelancing and writing, providing me with a decent living.
2. Taking Care of My Health:
Amidst the money-making chaos, I never lost sight of my health.
I realized that being healthy and chomping down on nutritious meals would pay off in the long run.
After all, what’s the use of wealth if your health is in shambles?
A healthy body and mind top the charts.
3. Progressing Towards Financial Freedom:
It’s not just about earning more; it’s about managing what you earn.
Five years ago, I had an epiphany — proper investment in stocks, equities, and real estate could pave the way to financial freedom. To be financially free, it’s crucial to invest wisely and make informed decisions.
4. Discovering My Inner Self:
Enter meditation and the exploration of my inner self.
I began the quest for peace of mind, aiming for that eternal state of happiness flowing through my body and soul.
5. Traveling A Lot:
I love travelling, and since my childhood, I dreamed of traveling worlds famous countries and now exploring new countries with my husband.
From Asia to Europe, we’ve covered a fair share of the map in the last three years. Why wait until retirement to savor the beauty of different lands?
I’m not letting age dictate when I can take those long flights and embark on adventures.
In a nutshell, these five lessons have become my roadmap to avoid stress and regrets when I hit my 60s:
- Experiment with as many opportunities as you can.
- Take care of your health; befriend your body and mind.
- Learn about finance and investing strategies to build assets.
- Discover your inner mind and embrace eternal happiness.
- Travel the world, soak in the beauty, and marvel at nature with your own eyes.
I think these lessons and habits make me feel proud and happy where I am today and what I do. Learn to love and embrace yourself.
