It is your beliefs that create the rules you choose to live by. Many of these beliefs are misguided and may interfere with your productivity and effectiveness in utilizing the resources that are readily available to you. Not all Belief Based Obstacles are negative. I certainly do not want to discard the power of faith. However, many misguided religious beliefs can prevent you from transcending an obstacle, you might easily transcend without this misguided belief. The most common belief-based obstacles include acting without assessing your motivations, a fear of failure, surrounding yourself with unsupportive people, believing what authority figures tell you is or is not possible, and ignoring important details.</li></ol><p id="3c99">This story is an excerpt from my course “How to Become Wealthy”</p><div id="4c71" class="link-block"> <a href="https://asklewis.substack.com/p/an-introduction-to-my-new-course"> <div> <div> <h2>An Introduction to My New Course "How to Become Really Wealthy".</h2> <div><h3>Part of my Personal Growth Series of Inexpensive Self-Guided Courses</h3></div> <div><p>asklewis.substack.com</p></div> </div> <div> <div style="background-image: url(https://miro.readmedium.com/v2/resize:fit:320/0*axPGBnRHLn7ABOGi)"></div> </div> </div> </a> </div><p id="1ee4">©Lewis Harrison, all rights reserved.</p><p id="f853">Here are a few stories in a similar vein</p><p id="715b">@charleneannmildredfbarroga</p><div id="a97d" class="link-block"> <a href="https://readmedium.com/is-mcdonalds-as-sustainable-as-it-claims-93612ed341fb"> <div> <div> <h2>Is McDonald’s as Sustainable as It Claims?</h2> <div><h3>Golden Arches</h3></div> <div><p>medium.com</p></div> </div> <div> <div style="background-image: url(https://miro.readmedium.com/v2/resize:fit:320/1*6kpZXsW5O7bsJNr_pkE40w.png)"></div> </div> </div> </a> </div><p id="8c72">@LewisCoaches</p><div id="c174" class="link-block"> <a href="https://readmedium.com/the-7-best-tips-for-personal-growth-752f63dc4584"> <div> <div> <h2>The 7 Best Tips For Personal Growth</h2> <div><h3>The formula for having meaning, contentment, happiness, and a sense of fulfillment…From Ask Lewis</h3></div>

5 Key Tips For Solving Unsolvable Problems

Maybe you’re looking for the wrong solution

Solutions — Photo by Towfiqu barbhuiya on Unsplash

Often a problem seems unsolvable because you are looking in the wrong direction for the solution. I often read stories that combine spirituality with business success to guide me. I read those “Chicken Soup for the Soul Books”.

The source of this situation concerning solutions is often some simple, small factor that has begun a complex chain reaction ultimately shutting down the entire process. When you are not consistent with your business vision, it is easy to fall off center both mentally and emotionally and make choices that create these small factors.

In such a case, you will likely be blind to the key factor that is the source of the problem. Yes, a chain reaction of events and circumstances may seem external to us but in fact, may simply be creations out of our unique reality. This can ultimately lead to despair and a sense of hopelessness. Clarity of thought isolates all of the primary obstacles and removes them. This is a perfect expression of doing what needs to be done.

Often it is being in Zen Beginner’s Mind that brings the solution to mind. This is just one more expression of Wuwei — the action that has no action. Though it need not be applied as a consistent problem-solving tool, meditation can also serve as a source for solving various dilemmas. There are forms of meditation that are specifically designed to tap into the creative well and bring solutions to the surface intuitively. All that is required here is the intention! It is an intention that is manifested in every second through thought, word, and deed. I first came across this idea as a young student through the writings of the great German polymath Johann Wolfgang von Goethe.

Reading Goethe made me ask, “What does it mean to be ready, willing, and able to do something? What extraordinary chain of events is actualized as a result of this way of thinking?” I imagine each of my actions as a pebble tossed into a pond.

The pebble hits the water and ripples of water fan out all in response to that simple act. A clear intention, even one that is seemingly small, will create such a wave, a chain reaction, a ripple effect. This Beginner’s Mind is like a pebble as well. When you are in this state of mind, all forms and manner of unforeseen events, circumstances, and environmental shifts will take place to enable your vision to become a reality.

This takes place naturally, spontaneously, and often without discipline or willpower. It all happens through clarity of intention. Clarity of intention is the one thing that can give meaning to your life and your business. It is the core of what chopping wood and carrying water represents.

With meditation, one holds the pebble but doesn’t toss it into the pond. One only observes. You say, "Something is a problem”. What you are saying is that you have a business, “challenge eliminating your freedom”. It is a false notion, for there is no problem.

“Business is a game, played for fantastic stakes, and you compete with experts. If you want to win, you have to learn to be a master of the game.”

― Sidney Sheldon, Master of the Game

That some person, place, or thing is keeping you from doing what needs to be done. From the perspective of the Wisdom Business Path, a part of your daily activities needs to focus on organizing what you perceive to be problems or specific obstacles so that each one can be effectively addressed. An easy and effective way of doing this is to divide business challenges and problems into four primary groups or classes. They are not all problems.

The 4 Keys is to distinguish between challenges and problems.

  1. Challenges Of Limited Personal Resources: These reflect your lack of skill. Example — the inability to use the best tool.
  2. Challenges Resulting from Internal Obstacles: These reflect genetic or biological factors that are beyond your control. These can include height, gender, or genetics.
  3. Problems Resulting From External Factors Beyond Your Control: These types of obstacles are often tied to a situation or environment and on a micro level might limit your ability to find like-minded people or a quiet place to meditate. On a larger level, such factors might even influence global warming. There are very few obstacles that are insurmountable and a clear-thinking person with clear intention can usually transcend them.
  4. Belief-Based Obstacles: Any belief can influence virtually every aspect of your life. The most common belief-based obstacles include acting without assessing your motivations, a fear of failure, surrounding yourself with unsupportive people, believing what authority figures tell you is or is not possible, and ignoring important details.
