30 Lessons For My Unborn Son
Lesson #4: Self-Confidence

Confidence is key — once you have that, you are unstoppable.
Timothy Weah
Dear Son,
As you get older, you will encounter situations that make you nervous or uneasy.
Fear is an instinct that keeps us from taking action and continuing on the path to success.
Whether you are approaching a woman to ask for a date, or going to your boss for a promotion, fear may stand in your way.
Sometimes believing in yourself and having self-confidence will allow you to overcome the presence of fear.
Here are 3 ways to build your self-confidence:
1. Using positive affirmations
Reading motivational quotes is a good way to reinforce positive thoughts. Post them in places where you will see them daily. Your phone’s home screen or the mirror and refrigerator are a couple of examples where you can post them.
2. Setting and achieving goals
As we reach goals in our lives, we naturally build confidence. Setting smaller goals will also help us strive for bigger ones in the future.
When you are feeling down on yourself, it’s helpful to make a list of your accomplishments. Think about how far you have come and what achievements have been made.
You are more likely to have positive thoughts about the future.
3. Take care of your mental and physical health
A healthier person is naturally more confident. It’s important to exercise regularly to stay in shape. Having a strong and muscular body is not only meant to impress others. It will also give you more confidence.
The same can be said about your mental health. Practicing exercises for your mind will put you in a better mental state and allow you to feel confident in striving for success.
Life is full of ups and downs.
That’s what life is all about. The important thing is how we respond when faced with adversity.
Having self-confidence will help you in almost any difficult situation you are faced with in life.
Remember, God made you with the capability to be able to handle anything that comes your way.
You are special, and capable of achieving great things in this world if you put your mind to it.
Your self-confidence is going to be the key to unlocking greatness.
Love you Son,
Dad
