Lesson # 5: Enthusiasm

“Enthusiasm is one of the most powerful engines of success. When you do a thing, do it with all your might. Put your whole soul into it. Stamp it with your own personality. Be active, be energetic, be enthusiastic and faithful, and you will accomplish your object. Nothing great was ever achieved without enthusiasm.”

Ralph Waldo Emerson

Dear Son,

Your life is a gift, Don’t take it for granted!

Despite the difficulties that you will face, you need to understand the importance of enthusiasm and what it can mean for your success.

The benefits of living your life with enthusiasm are endless.

Here are 3 ways enthusiasm has helped me in my life:

1. Helps pick you up when life knocks you down

Life is not fair! (Here is something you will hear many times from your Dad)

There will be tragedies and disappointments that occur in life. That’s part of living.

However, having enthusiasm and a passion for life will help you bounce back faster.

You have to take the good with the bad in life.

Recognize that we all will have to endure difficult times but putting in the work towards success helps build character in a person.

I have had my share of disappointments, but enthusiasm was always the key to turning the situation around.

Live your life to the fullest every single day.

When you’re unsure which way to go next in your life, simply take a step. Step out on faith and proceed with enthusiasm.

2. Others will follow your lead

Leaders are developed, not born. We all have leadership abilities within us but our experiences and mindset are what sets us apart from others.

When you live your life with enthusiasm, others will want to be around you.

It’s an infectious trait that attracts others.

Whether in your personal life or the workplace, enthusiasm will help you stand out from the competition.

3. Makes up for shortcomings

Enthusiasm is a character trait that stands out over others.

It means that if you lack certain qualities but display enthusiasm, that will be what others notice the most about you.

In business, they say it’s important to surround yourself with people who are smarter than you.

Enthusiasm attracts others so you will have an easier time building a quality team versus someone who lacks this trait.

If two candidates are interviewing for a position with roughly similar resumes, the one who displays enthusiasm is more than likely the candidate who will be selected.

It’s the great equalizer in life we all need!

It’s not what we do in life but how we do it. Enthusiasm will help you on your quest for success.

Enthusiasm crushes doubt in our minds. It attracts other successful people as they will want to be a part of what you have going on.

You will also find that attaining your goals will become easier when you do so with enthusiasm.

Be a role model for others in life. Far too many people live in constant worry, fear, depression, etc.

Your passion and enthusiasm for life might influence others to make a change.

This is one of the most important lessons I will share with you.

Love you Son,

Dad
