3 Subtle Signs You’ve Made Your Childhood Self Proud
The opinion that matters the most

To make someone proud is a nice feeling, and it can become a really powerful motivation.
But I think from all those people we want to make proud of us, it is our childhood self's opinion that matters the most.
This is because, although we change through time, our childhood selves stay as a significant compass to show who we really are. There is a quote by Charles Bukowski that summarizes this perfectly, and it goes as:
“Can you remember who you were before the world told you who you should be?”
So to be approved by the person who we authentically were is an important thing to consider, and that’s why, today, I’d like to share with you 3 signs that you’ve made your childhood self proud.
These are:
1-You do not let the world dictate who you are
2-You didn’t let go of the curiosity
3-You work on your dreams
1-You do not let the world dictate who you are
For most of us, throughout childhood, especially before we start school, there is a freedom that comes from “just being a child”. Our imaginations become our daily companion and through games, we feel that we can become who we want, as long as we believe in it.
Meanwhile in adulthood, through the increased responsibility, we can find ourselves being forced to fit a standardized box. But if we can keep on holding on to the idea that only we have the power to decide who we are, then we can stay true to ourselves.
So if you are one of those who do not let the world dictate who you are, or you are re-discovering yourself, then your childhood self would be full of admiration to see your authentic evolution.
2-You didn’t let go of the curiosity
Curiosity is an important part of our lives in childhood, but I think we need it even more in our adult lives. So whether it is to discover who we really are, our capabilities, or to understand ourselves and others around us, curiosity plays a big part in all this discovery.
So if you didn’t let go of the curiosity, and let yourself discover the world through it, then your childhood self would be happy to see that you are still an adventurer.
3-You work on your dreams
To work on a dream is to have hope for the future, so whether it is as small as buying art supplies for your dream art career, or as big as moving to another country to fulfill a dream of yours, anything that helps us to step forward towards achieving a dream is valuable.
In childhood, we love to think and talk about our dreams.
This is because we believe in them.
So if as adults we keep working on making these dreams come true, then our childhood selves would be happy to see that.
Bonus: You still have games on your phone :)
