3 Steps to Easily Build Healthy Habits That Stick for Good
One of the most difficult habits to build is a healthy lifestyle
Getting into a good routine is one of the most important things that will help you be successful in life.
One of the most difficult habits to build is a healthy lifestyle with all the distractions and time constraints, it’s no wonder people have a hard time sticking to their goals.
But with some work and commitment, establishing healthy habits can become second nature.
Here are three steps to easily build healthy habits that stick for good.
Establishing healthy habits
The first step to establishing healthy habits is finding a routine that works for you. Setting a routine can help you see your progress and stay motivated.
For example, if you wanted to get into the habit of going to the gym 5 times a week, your routine might look like this:
- Monday: Workout at 6 PM
- Tuesday: Workout at 7 AM
- Wednesday: Workout at 8 AM
- Thursday: Workout at 9 AM
- Friday: Workout at 10 AM
Then on Saturday and Sunday, you don’t have to worry about going to the gym because it’s not part of your routine. After a few weeks of doing this, it will become second nature! Your body will automatically know when it’s time for a workout.
Using triggers to build good habits.
The first step to building healthy habits that stick for good is to take advantage of triggers. Triggers are any routine, like getting out of bed in the morning, which can motivate you to do something.
For example, if your goal is to get more exercise each day, make sure you set up a trigger for yourself.
Maybe it’s setting an alarm or putting on your running clothes when you wake up in the morning. Triggers are small things that remind you of your goals and help you stick with them.
Many people find triggers helpful because they work to encourage new habits without having to think about them too much.
When it becomes difficult to remember what should be done next, triggers take over and help you stay on track.
And while some people might not need many triggers in their life, others might need many reminders before they finally break the habit.
It’s important to figure out how many reminders will work best for you!
Understand the importance of routines
A routine is a simple and straightforward way to structure your day and accomplish your goals. You can create healthy routines that will allow you to eat healthier, exercise more, and get more sleep.
When you’re aware of what your daily habits are, it’s much easier to plan for the future. You will know when you need to start preparing for work in the morning or when you need to save some time for a workout.
Routines also help you make better decisions about where your time should be spent.
For example, if you always shower at night before bedtime, but one day decide to take a shower in the morning instead, it’s not surprising that you might see an improvement in focus and brain function later on in the day.
It would seem like such a small change can make such a big difference.
Routines are important because they help us establish good habits over time with less effort.
They also provide us with stability and structure that we may not have otherwise felt comfortable with achieving on our own.
