3 Signs You're a Truly Godly Person

You’re a true mystic

1. You Love God With All You’ve Got

Your love for God supersedes everything. You love him with all of your heart, all of your mind, all of your soul, and all of your strength. You love him with everything you’ve got, and it’s a kind of love that is unmatched by anything else in the world.

Nothing is more important to you.

You love God and so you fear him. It’s not the fear that makes you afraid in his presence or renders you powerless. It is a reverence for God that gives you power and authority. You know that the fear of God is the beginning of wisdom. It is a fountain of life and whoever has it rests satisfied and is not visited by harm. It keeps you from the snares of death.

You love God and so you put him first.

God first to you means God first. You place him ahead of everything and everyone. You prioritize time with him through prayer, reading his words, and meditating on them.

You give yourself time in the day to slow down and dwell in God’s presence.

You allow yourself to bask in the glory of all the things he created. The earth, the sun, and the moon. The sky, the stars, and the mountains. The animals, the water, and the trees.

And the people too!

You love them all because you love the one who brought them into existence.

You love God with all of your heart, all of your mind, all of your soul, and all of your strength.

2. You Love Others As You Love Yourself

Loving God is not enough. That love must extend to our fellow human beings.

This means your boss, you know, the annoying one. It means the person who writes hate comments on your posts. It also means the lady at the grocery store who looks at you up and down and looks away. You love her too. You love others, and you don't pick and choose.

You love people with the same intensity with which you love yourself.

One barrier to this is that many people struggle to love themselves. It is going to be difficult to love another person if you don't love yourself. You can only love others as much as you love yourself.

Too many of us don't place value on ourselves. If you don’t love yourself; if you don’t hold yourself to any value, then you can't love others.

Once you've instilled a sense of worth and value in yourself, then you can recognize the worth and value in every human being.

You're actively concerned about others. You are concerned about the well-being of the less fortunate and take steps to be fair and just in all of your interactions.

Because you love others, you are merciful and forgiving. When people do you wrong; when you help people and don't get so much as a thank you, you forgive them. When you help people and they betray and turn their back on you, you forgive them.

Because you love God and others as much as you love yourself, God does not play about you. He's quick to come when you call.

You love people with the same intensity with which you love yourself.

3. You're Full of Wisdom and Kindness

Wisdom is not the same as knowledge. Knowledge is the acquisition of information. Wisdom is understanding how to apply that information. It’s discernment.

The heart of the discerning acquires knowledge and the ears of the wise seek it out. It takes wisdom to build a house and understanding to set it on a firm foundation. It takes knowledge to furnish its rooms with beautiful treasures.

As a godly person, you embody the wisdom of God. The wisdom from God is pure, peace-loving, considerate, submissive, full of mercy and good fruit, impartial, and sincere.

How much better to get wisdom than gold? To get insight rather than silver?

Wisdom is something that comes with experience. There are not many wise 20-year-olds walking around. Wisdom comes with age and understanding to the old. As you grow in your love for God and others, you grow in wisdom and kindness.

You open your mouth with wisdom, and on your tongue is the law of kindness.

Society tells us that kindness is a weakness. A person who carries herself with a kind disposition should not be considered weak, soft, or naïve. Kindness is a godly character, regardless of what other people say or think.

You're not wise in your own eyes. Whenever you feel you lack wisdom in a situation, you ask God who gives it to you generously without finding fault.

Whoever is wise, let him listen and add to their learning. Whoever is discerning, let him get guidance for understanding proverbs and parables, wise sayings, and riddles.

Also — You're The Most Humble Person

Who is wise and understanding? Let them show it by their good life and by their deeds done in the humility that comes from wisdom.

Society tells us that there is virtue in being strong, ambitious, outspoken, and powerful and there’s absolutely nothing wrong with these things. However, we must walk with humility.

Humility is not opposed to being strong, ambitious, outspoken, and powerful, however, humility undergirds our strength. It informs our ambition and guides our speech.

As a godly person, you don't hesitate to speak up against the injustices of the world or against anyone that's taught to oppress other people, but you do so with humility.

You’re strong and powerful and still humble. You’re ambitious, bold, and outspoken, but you’re still humble. You’re smart and intelligent, yet you’re the most humble person in the room.

You’re all of who God created you to be, but you have no pride. You’ve seen that with pride comes disgrace, but with humility comes wisdom.

You’re a godly person and an advanced soul. You understand it's what God asks you to be. You can understand these things and do them because there’s a God in you.
