When you discover and use these three secrets to boost your confidence, it will change your life — personally, professionally, and financially.

Secret #1 — Love is the root of true confidence

The annoying arrogance that passes for confidence is rooted in fear and insecurity. You want nothing to do with this fake confidence. Rightly so.

True confidence will never turn you into a conceited jerk because you are a fundamentally loving person. You are hard-wired for kindness and compassion.

So, when you connect with the love that lives within you, you return to your natural, confident state of being. True confidence becomes effortless and authentic.

Pro Practice: Breathe the Love

When you feel scared or uncertain, close your eyes, place your hand over your heart, and pretend you’re breathing the pink light of love into your heart.

Imagine you’re exhaling pink light, to fill the molecules of the air around you with love.

Breathe pink light in and out three times. Notice how you feel.

Bask in the love as long as you can. Store it in your heart, so you can tap into it at any time.

Secret #2 — Confidence is a decision

You make hundreds of decisions every day, whether you’re aware of it or not.

You decide whether to get up when the alarm goes off or hit “snooze.” You decide whether you want to get dressed or stay in your pajamas.

The day, and the decisions, go on from there.

Here’s the thing:

If you can decide to have scrambled eggs for breakfast, you can decide to feel confident.

Both are choices. It’s simply a matter of degree.

Do you want eggs or waffles? Confidence or self-doubt?

Like love and success, confidence is a decision that you are free to make at any time. You may need to choose confidence several times a day at first, but you’ll soon find it comes to you naturally.

Pro Practice: Flip Your Lid

Let’s say a discouraging thought comes to mind, like “There’s no way I can make money doing what I love.”

It’s a flat statement that closes the door on new possibilities, fresh insights, and effective solutions.

Why would you want to do that?

Instead, flip that thought into an empowering question like:

“How can I make money doing what I love?”

Open-ended questions activate your mind’s search engine, so it can find the answers from wherever they are. It’s like Google on steroids.

Notice the answers and ideas that come to mind.

When an incoming idea excites you, speak it out loud or write it down. Let the flow of ideas continue until it comes to a natural stop.

Act on your favorite idea while it’s still hot. See what happens. You may be amazed.

One Way This Practice Can Change Your Life

You can decide that your services are worth double or triple what you’ve been charging, because of the value you bring to your clients. The people who see your worth will happily pay what your charge. The people who don’t will stop taking up your valuable time and energy so you can focus on serving the folks who appreciate you

Secret #3 — You’re better and smarter than you think

If you’re like most people, you have vivid memories of your mistakes, messes, and losses.

But when it comes to your successes, achievements, and wins — you forget about them five minutes after they’ve happened.

It’s hard to have faith in yourself when you see your losses (reasons for self-doubt) in glowing Technicolor and your wins (reasons for self-confidence) in fast-fading black-and-white.

This is your brain’s negativity bias in action. It forgets the good stuff and remembers the bad stuff to remind you to keep away from dangers like snarling tigers and smarmy salesmen.

That’s why it’s not your fault if you struggle with self-doubt, anxiety, or insecurity.

Your brain is hard-wired to collect a mountain of evidence that you’re weak and worthless — while masking a Mount Everest of proof that you’re smarter, more capable, and more worthy of success than you ever imagined.

That’s why you’re better and smarter than you think you are. You’ve got a case of amnesia here, my friend. You keep forgetting everything that’s wonderful about you.

Pro Practice: Ask for Right Perception

Here’s a simple way to tune into your higher awareness to clearly see the love and greatness that live within you, so you can move forward with confidence and joy.

The Course in Miracles teaches that the only miracle we ever need to ask for is the miracle of right perception.

You create your own reality through your perception. Because when you change the way you look at things, the things you look at change.

If you want to create a new reality — say, a reality in which you are loved, successful, healthy, and wealthy …

1) Find a quiet place to sit, and close your eyes

2) Breathe pink light in and out three times

3) Say out loud or in your heart, “Give me right perception of…(fill in the blank)”

4) Notice what rises up in your awareness

5) If you want more details, ask for them

6) Keep going until you feel at peace

Once you feel complete, do what you feel moved to do — take a nap, drink some water, launch an online empire — whatever.

When you change the way you look at things, the things you look at change.

You can call for right perception of yourself, your next right step, your financial situation, your right livelihood… or any part of your life where you want love, clarity, courage, strength, understanding, or forward motion.

If you receive an idea that’s loving, supportive, compassionate, or neutral, that’s your right perception. Lean into it.

If you receive an idea that’s hurtful, angry, or otherwise unsupportive — your ego-mind has crashed the party. Let your mind go blank for a second. Go back to breathing pink light in and out. Then ask again. Keep asking until you get a loving, supportive response, and go from there.

One Way This Practice Can Change Your Life

It can be hard to leave a toxic relationship if you consciously or unconsciously feel like you don’t deserve anything better or worry that you’ll never find anyone else who will love you.

When you see yourself in a new light, it’s easier to recognize that you deserve love and respect. In fact, you earned it long ago.

As you continue to practice right perception, it gets easier to let go of those who treat you badly. Which lets you make room in your life for people who adore and respect you just the way you are.
