3 Powerful Reasons To Use Positive Affirmations

I’m giving affirmations a big thumbs up

Affirmations are simply positive statements. When used well and consistently, they’re a powerful way to deliberately shape your thoughts so that they support you.

I’m a mindset coach and affirmations are one of the things I recommend to everyone.

Firstly, anyone can use them at any given moment in time to improve their thoughts.

Secondly, you can make them specific to you to help you with any area of your life.

Some simple examples of affirmations are:

  • I am worthy
  • I have what it takes to achieve this goal
  • I am building wealth every day
  • Every day I become more and more successful
  • My confidence is improving every day

I’ve created a special guide to help you use and make the most of affirmations — How To Use Affirmations Guide

1. Thoughts Become Things

Mike Dooley from the hit law of attraction movie The Secret famously said “Thoughts become things.”

Now, as a mindset coach, I do think there’s more to it, however, I certainly believe that our thoughts play a huge part in what shows up in our reality.

With affirmations, you have the opportunity to deliberately think in a way that supports you.

Use your affirmations to focus on the things you want for yourself and to attract them into your life.

2. Affirmations Help To Change Limiting Beliefs

Unhelpful thoughts that randomly come into your mind can be a great indicator of limiting limits you’re holding onto.

Pay attention to your thoughts and if you notice anything unhelpful, anything that is not supporting you, use positive affirmations to change your thoughts in this area and start to change limiting beliefs.

To use affirmations in this way, you will need to be consistent and use your supportive affirmations over time.

Here’s an example, if you have a belief that people who didn’t do well in school can’t be successful in business or get a high-paying job, you could start using an affirmation such as…

There are people from all walks of life and from all education levels who are very successful in business and life.

3. Affirmations Improve How You Feel

When used in the right way, positive affirmations can really lift you from a low mood to feeling much more positive.

If at any time, your affirmations feel uncomfortable or like a lie, try changing the wording slightly so that it feels better for you personally.

Here’s an example of what I mean. If you’re in debt and currently struggling to pay your bills, then affirmations such as “I’m a multi-millionaire” will probably just add to your low feelings about your financial situation.

Instead, you could try better-feeling messages such as… I am learning how to make more money. I’m learning how to manage my money better. I’m building money beliefs that support me now.

I also recommend that you combine your affirmations with EFT Tapping (Emotional Freedom Techniques). This is a really easy technique to use yourself and will help you to release resistance to your affirmations.

Create Your Own Affirmations To Support You

What do you want? And how do you want to feel?

Once you have the answers to these two questions then you can create your own powerful affirmations.

Example Affirmations:

  • I want to come across really well in work meetings
  • I want to feel more confident in meetings at work
  • Affirmation idea: With every work meeting I attend I become more and more confident, I come across really well

Give it a try for yourself. I truly believe affirmations can be life-changing. They have been for me.

Are you using affirmations to help you feel great and create a life you love?
