Summary

The webpage discusses the importance of using content creation templates for efficient online content production.

Abstract

The article emphasizes the strategic advantage of "templatizing" content creation, a concept the author discovered 15 years prior while analyzing over 600 newspaper columns. It outlines three effective content templates: the "3 Mistakes" template, which identifies common errors in a niche and suggests improvements; the "STOP" template, designed to capture attention by advising against common practices and offering better alternatives; and the "ACRONYM" template, which uses a key word to create engaging and memorable content. The author encourages readers to apply these templates to their content creation process and offers a free digital guidebook on 21 fresh content ideas for further inspiration.

How to “Templatize Your Enterprise”

Templatizing Your Enterprise is one of the smartest things you can do online.

Especially when it comes to content creation.

The Birth of Templates (at least for me)

15 years ago someone asked me to look back through the over 600 newspaper columns I’d created for my weekly relationship column.

What was I looking for?

Patterns.

Themes.

Templates.

As it turns out, there was a method to my madness.

Templates.

I’ve been creating, using, and offering templates ever since.

My first online mentor Tom Antion helped me create my first online template resource. Tom still uses them:

“I still use Jeff’s templates. When I need to write an article and I’m feeling stuck for an idea, I pull out Jeff’s templates and right away I’m creating content.” ~ Tom Antion

So today let’s talk about 3 of my favorite content creation templates:

The 3 Mistakes Content Creation Template

All niches have common mistakes. When you can name them and show what to do instead, you’re positioning yourself as a leader and influencer and helping your audience.

Step 1) Name a common mistake in your niche

Name the mistake, give examples of the mistake, talk about the results of the mistake.

Step 2) Offer what to do instead

Anyone can name mistakes, just like anyone can be a critic.

You set yourself apart as a leader in your niche when you offer what to do instead and how to avoid the mistake.

Step 3) Name mistakes 2 and 3

Choose 2 more mistakes in your niche and do steps one and two again.

And now you’ve got a powerful 3 mistakes piece of content.

And you can do this over and over again.

Here’s an example of the 3 mistakes content creation template:

The STOP Content Creation Template

This one is fun because it “stops the scroll” when people see the title.

Step 1) Title your content with “STOP (doing something that you commonly think you should be doing)”

EX: “Stop Writing Articles”

Step 2) Write about what people are doing wrong as they do this common thing.

EX: Articles are often written in boring, put you to sleep, ZZZZZ language.

Step 3) Write about how to do it better

EX: Instead of writing articles, create columns. Because

“Articles tell. Columns sell.”

Here’s an example of using the “STOP” Content Creation Template:

The ACRONYM Content Creation Template

My buddy Tim Maudlin has raised this to an art form.

And for good reason, as it’s an easily created and powerful template.

Step 1) Choose an Important Key Word in Your Niche

EX: Content, Traffic, Tribe, Product, etc.

Step 2) Make It Vertical

EX:

C O N T E N T

Step 3) Choose a word for each letter

EX:

C reate

O nline Visibility

Step 4) Explain how to use each word

EX:

C reate don’t write.

O nline Visibility gets you found in a noisy or crowded niche.

Step 5) Build out each letter

The next thing you know you have a unique, attractive, and helpful piece of content that stops the scroll.

Here’s an example of the ACRONYM Content Creation Template:
