When I do MasterClasses, they are about 2–3 hours of training, and you walk away with something completed and something you can do right away.
At the same time, MasterClasses act as a great springboard for offering the next success steps. People have gotten a taste of what it’s like to training with you, and they are ready for more.
Mini-Posters: This strategy works very well with Listicles. Come back with me to ’98. I’d been writing a relationship column for the Tallahassee Democrat for 4 years and it had been syndicated all over the world.
For a few months I’d been taking the main points of listicles and printing them on fancy stationery with backgrounds from Office Depot. You know, 8.5 x 11 sheets of paper with a nice background like a sunset, scroll, or hearts for instance.
I was speaking at a big event in Tampa and thought “I wonder what would happen if I created several different versions of these and sold them for a buck?”
“I wonder what would happen if I created several different versions of these and sold them for a buck a piece?”
Here’s what happened: They sold out! When I came out of the room where I spoke there were event staff trying to handle all the customers at my table.
Here’s where it gets really crazy. When they sold out there was still a huge crowd of customers. Fortunately I had brought copies on plain white paper. The event planner grabbed those and made copies. The plain white copies sold out.
I made over $1000 that day, one dollar at time.
Imagine what you could charge on Etsy, on your web site, etc. Imagine what you could charge by repurposing them into NFTs. (and spelling NFT is my complete range of knowledge on the topic)
Audio Articles: Medium is phasing in an audio version of each article as you can see above in this article and in this example:

This is a great feature to attract readers to your articles. But how do we create an income stream from them?
3 ways to create an Audio Article income stream:
- Create special articles (longer, more in depth, course level) and publish them as “unlisted” on Medium. This means only those with the special link can access them. Position them as in depth “Audio Article Training” which includes the text as a bonus. You don’t even need a website to do this!
- Sell “Audio Article” files directly from your website. At purchase customers are directed to a protected link on your website just like any other sale. Make sure the audio files are downloadable so they can be consumed on the go like a podcast.
- The minimum word count for an Audible book is 5,000 words. OK, I hear that “gulp!” But wait a minute! What if you bundled ten 500 word articles on one topic and simply read them? Or seventeen 300 word articles. Getting the idea…?
