2 Creative Ways To Boost Your Creative Writing
Make Creatively Brilliant Work

One cannot disagree that becoming creative can really make you stand out from the crowd.
When every element falls into the right place your creative content will start to show some of the most exceptional results, be it an article, video, art, poem, or anything else.
You need to stand apart in order to become visible.
This logic really works excellently on platforms like Instagram and YouTube. Because these platforms have really advanced algorithms and a high amount of active users that are always in need of great content.
So, what makes a person more creative? Inherent talent or a skill that anyone can develop?
See, we as humans always think that creative people are different somehow, driven by madness or blessed by some sort of gift but it is not true because creativity isn’t mystical.
It’s more like a muscle and there are ways we can train it. As the neuro-scientist, Heather Berlin says there are two types of networks in our brain.
- Default Mode Network — it works when we are thinking internally like daydreaming and most of the time creative ideas emerge when we are in this network.
- Executive Control Network — This network is active when we are consciously doing some task and evaluating something.
So, in order to become more creative, we just do not need our right part of the brain to be active but we need almost every part to interact with each other. One mode creates creative ideas and another mode evaluates them.
Let’s dive into the two creative ways to improve your creative writing.
Make A Compilation of Ideas
There have been several instances where people have reinvented their creativity by mixing up genres, songs, art, etc.
For instance, if you look into the work of Peter Paul Rubens a well knows artist and a diplomat. His works included a mystical blend of Humans and Animals.

There are many more paintings done by him that involves a unique blend of emotions portrayed using Human and Animals.
Similar to this, recently you have also noticed a popular ad for iPhone 13 in which the Apple Creative Music team has used a Dum Maaro Dum Indian song and mixed it with some western music.

The song purely sounds unique and creative. Hence, if you are creative you should also take some creative risks to mix two different ideas and genres in order to create something new.
Beatles have done it, Issac Asimov has done it and you can do it too!
“Everything you can imagine is real.” — Pablo Picasso
Don’t be afraid to create something uncommon or odd; don’t be frightened to create anything conventional. Think unusual thoughts and you’ll come up with spectacular results.
Many of humanity’s best ideas have an odd and, from some perspectives, mad dimension to them. Make the most of your abilities and talents by tossing out your everyday ideas and attempting to put together a collection of strange ideas until the remarkable arrives.
Exercise You Can Try
- Do not depend on a single genre of writing, try something out of your domain. Such as writing an erotic story letting your fantasies come out.
- Write 5 Ideas after waking up in the morning.
Remember It’s Not In Your Genes that make you stand apart, it’s always sheer practice and consistency.
Make Failure Your Mate
Failure is what we are most fear of and fear is a mind killer.
Nobody likes to fail, everyone wants to excel in their lives but in the race of success, we never embrace how failure always supports us.
Yes, we need to embrace more failure in order to succeed because failure always stays while success comes and goes.
Failure/Rejection is the first step towards success. Rejection serves as a wake-up call, prompting you to take action. Anger at refutation is a source of energy that you can use to fuel your work.
Failure gave me an inner security that I had never attained by passing examinations. “Failure taught me things about myself that I could have learned no other way. I discovered that I had a strong will and more discipline than I had suspected; I also found out that I had friends whose value was truly above the price of rubies”, J.K Rowling said in her commencement speech at Harvard.
It is being shown to us in various films and shows that how our main protagonist who never succeeds in life excels in his creative pursuit after a big insult or a heartbreak.
Yes, it takes a big insult, rejection, heartbreak, or any kind of a big moment that can unlock the creative genius inside of you.
Accept your feelings. Don’t reject or conceal your feelings of embarrassment and frustration; instead, channel them into a driving force.
Talking about the movies there is one particular movie that teaches us how to embrace failure, The Pursuit of Happyness.
“You will learn more from a glorious failure than ever you will from something that you never finished.” — Neil Gaiman
When I started writing on Medium, I myself had multiple rejections from many publications but It never stopped me to publish.
Despite being a full-time engineer, I always tried to publish more than 10 stories a month and In the past year, I have surely upgraded myself on this platform.
Exercise You Can Try
- Set short-term goals, for instance always try to write your next story better than the previous one. Appreciate the power of tiny gains.
- Imitate your favorite writer by writing their essays or novels for 30 minutes a day.
