One advantage of being curated is to make money for a longer period of time. You will make money from those articles even after a year. Some of my un-curated stories got some views for a particular time period and now they are dead.

This is also a very good strategy to get more views on your Medium stories. Let say a person is reading a story, he might click on other link added to that Medium story. Quora is also a very search engine friendly website with millions of questions on Quora about every topic. I have to write up to 500 answers and receiving over 150K views every month. Quora could be your best marketing platform for your Medium stories.

Medium members also use Google search to find things about Medium and if they are facing any problem, they simply Google it.

When you search the term like

You will find Quora answers.

A Medium Link shared in a Popular Quora space got over 250 Upvotes and more than thousands of views from Quora

The good thing about Quora links on search is that you can also add your own answers and you will get more views on your Medium stories.

4. Making a Quora space

Quora introduces a new feature with the name of the “Quora spaces” a space on Quora means that you have a Facebook group. You can add links directly to your Quora spaces. I have space with the name of “Blogging and blogs” it is followed by over 11k people.

Statistics of my Quora space shows the number of views I have got and other stats.

One good thing about Medium and Quora is “Their audience is on both the platforms” the idea of Medium and Quora resonates with the audience of both the platforms. This makes Quora the most reliable platform for promoting your Medium stories and getting more views.

5. Running ads on Quora Marketing your Medium story

As both platforms have a similar audience and Quora just announced their Ad Manager and targeting based on Topic, you can easily target people to read your story. All you have to do is to add the Topic that your target audience is. Running Quora ads will not costs you that much compared to boosting your post on Facebook.

6. Share it with Facebook Medium member groups

There are some Facebook groups where Medium members have joined it. You can search these groups using the Facebook search feature and joined it. Once you hit the Publish button, you can add a link to your story in these Facebook groups. You will get more views from Medium members.

  1. Medium dreamers
  2. Medium writing

7. Collecting emails from your readers

An email is a way to reach your reader right through their inbox. Emailing someone increases your chances of getting more claps, read time, and response to your Medium stories. Every author has a newsletter where they asked the reader to subscribe to their writing to read more stories from them.

Sending bulk emails will costs you money, but it is worth trying.

8. Be Facebook Friend with those Medium members

A lot of Medium writers and Medium members are on Facebook. Medium is also a social platform where you are supposed to make friends and appreciate other work, but you can’t send personalized messages to writers, you can do the same on Quora but not here. So, you need a third-platform to interact with the writers. You can interact with writers through Facebook. Send them a Facebook friend request and make a lot of friends on Facebook.

When you publish your story, also share the friend link of your Medium story on your Facebook wall. This will help you get more views on your Medium stories.

9. Write more stories

Write and publish at least 1 story a day or if you are making a good amount of money then you must publish at least two stories a day. I am not good with English, so I write two or three stories a day on Medium. I have a total of 111 stories on Medium. Right now, I am making $1/day on Medium. This is not a good amount of money per see but still a platform that pays me $1 per day might someday pay me $10 per day.

Write more, publish more and publish long-form stories on Medium to get more views.

10. Targeting Medium members who search for Things related to Medium

Everybody search for the thing on Google. One of the writers did a great job targeting the Medium members searching for the thing on Google. Write stories about things that Medium members might be searching for. Medium has great domain authority that will help you to rank higher and quickly on the search engine about a specific topic.

Let say, I am a Medium member and I want to know, how to get more views on my Medium stories? I search the same term on Google and see what I got.

Medium story appear at the top of a keyword when we search for the term “How to get more views on Medium stories”

You can do this too and will generate an income that is completely passive in nature. Read one of my stories where I talked about generating passive income on Medium.

11. Share your story on Twitter with Hashtags

Ev Williams announced on his twitter post that “Medium will allow people to read the complete post if the person clicks on the link from Twitter” Is this means you will not get paid if a Medium member read your article? The simple answer is “No, you will be paid”

Sharing your story on Twitter will also help you in reaching your target audience by adding the relevant hashtags.

12. Researching the right tags for your Medium story

If you scroll through the Medium feed you will discover that there are a lot of recommendations tagged with “Based on your reading history” These articles are not curated and there is no guarantee that they are published in a popular publication. The recommendation is based on the relevant tags. Add tags that are relevant to the story and the Medium algorithm might choose your story after a year to show it to someone on his/her “Based on your reading history” tag.

Example:

A Medium story recommend by Medium on a tag with “Based on your reading history”

This is also another passive way to get more traffic or views on your Medium stories or articles.

Some of the popular tags on Medium are;

  • Startup
  • Life lessons
  • Self-development
  • Tech
  • Marketing
  • Writing
  • Writing tips

13. Make your own Publication

This one is one of my favorite way to get more views on my medium stories. When you publish a story in a Popular publication, Medium shows stories of other writers on the “More from Medium” section. The only way to convert that one reader into multiple views is to make your own publication and add similar tags on your Medium stories.

I have written a beautiful and well-explained Medium story about it. How To Let Medium shows Your Posts in Related Posts

14. Never Miss Pinterest

If you are not posting on Pinterest, you are doing a big mistake. Pinterest became a major platform for bloggers and writers. The views on your Medium from Pinterest might not generate any money for you but you can promote your personal brand through it too.

I have added a Story about Pinterest Marketing where I have explained a comprehensive guide for getting more views on your Pinterest pins. You can read it in the link given below.

15. Comment on other Medium writer stories

The Most underrated featured on Medium. Popular writers get thousands of internal views on their medium stories and most of those writers have a very low-amount of responses which shows that you have a great opportunity to leave a nice comment on their stories. Some of the people might find you through that response and you get more views.

You can also start a conversation by adding your own opinionated medium story.

16. Add a great Feature image.

Add an attractive feature image. An image and a title is the first thing that appears on Medium feed. A great image always delivers the image you want to your readers.

17. Add a clickbait title

Called it a “Clickbait” or attractive, it is the same thing. Add a title that makes the viewer click on it, make it so attractive that like he always wanted it. Everybody on the Internet complains about the “Clickbait” but the truth is “Everybody clicks on clickbait”

18. Follow People who clap for your Medium stories

Following people who clap for your Medium story might follow you back and in the future, they might find your stories. When you publish content or making your own tribe, you have to publish content that the people following you, find interesting and they can relate too or became curious to know more about the topic they interested in.

19. Publish Long-form stories

If you have a great number of following on Medium and want to reach your story to maximum followers, then you should write long-form stories on Medium. According to one survey by Ahref “Long-form stories receive more engagement and views compared to short-form 1,000 to 1,200 words articles”

Here are the advantages of writing long-form stories on Medium.

  • Long-form stories rank well in the search engines.
  • Longer stories explain things in detail.
  • You will get more number of shares and other engagement on longer stories.
  • Longer stories make more money compared to shorter stories because of the read time factor.
  • It will help you to rank on multiple keywords.
