$16k Flew Away
What exactly did I spend it on?

Had you told me about fifteen years ago that in one thirty-day span, a rate of over $500 per day would leave my wife’s and my joint checking account, I would not have believed you.
I have previously shared a lot of financial information, likely too much, but in those days of her being a stay-at-home mom with me working fiftyish-hour weeks, earning around $70,000 or so and overspending on some things while spending nothing at all on others, well…
Let’s just say that, like many people, we were pinching our pennies and keeping a watchful eye on every dollar.
That’s part of the reason why I feel compelled to share that over $16k left our account last month and that comes right after a month when about $13k did.

On a positive note, one of my investments paid off, padding our account by about $7,000 more than usual, so, as you can see, we were able to bear this.
I wish that I could write that I have finally succeeded in some side hustle or that I finally hit the $500 earnings threshold on Medium that I have long aspired to but, alas and alack, neither is the case.
I simply cashed out some stuff so we could finally fix our bathroom although nobody at all hazarded a guess as to its cost when I posed the question.
I have been investing for a long freaking time, so the $7,000 that I transferred from one of my accounts was put to good use. After all, when you only have one full bathroom in your house, it’s great when it works!
I should add that I’m a fairly boring investor. No crypto, just mutual funds, CDs, Money Market Accounts, Fundrise (which stinks), and some other things that I probably can’t recall.
A thousand and some change went to pay off my early November trip to Colorado, another few grand went to my adult children, both of whom I support to varying degrees, and some of the money even got spent on what is typically my best and favorite two hours of my month.
Boring old bills, paying for meds, utilities, car lease, insurance, and blah blah blah…
Oh yeah, I Paid Ourselves First a bit too — $850 to me, $500 to the wife.
Our Second Installment Property taxes were almost $3k alone!

It all added up to $16k.
Guess I’ll be working for a while, that is Should I Remain.
