12 Terrific Reasons to Wear a Mask

Some More Serious Than Others

I recently published an essay about why I love wearing a mask.

Some readers agreed with me. Others told me that they hated wearing a mask but would continue to wear one anyway. And some of them responded with the reasons they loved wearing a mask, including:

I don’t have to wear lipstick.

It hides my double chin.

It keeps me warm in my chilly office.

I have allergies and it screens out the pollen.

I look damn good in a mask.

I don’t have to smell your stinky breath.

You don’t have to smell my stinky breath.

I can stop waxing my upper lip.

Suddenly, facial plastic surgery seems like a waste of time and money.

I don’t have to shave every day.

It keeps the bugs out of your teeth on bike rides and hikes.

I just spent half a day at work with a huge piece of lettuce in my teeth, visible to no one.

In spite of these excellent reasons to enjoy masking, I suspect that when COVID is cured, we’ll all be happy to take them off for good.

And in spite of everything I’ve said about how much I love wearing my mask? That day can’t come soon enough for me.
