100%-Passive Income Source That I Use for 2,5 Years

Passive income is a magical unicorn of the modern world. Everyone talks about it, but no one can actually tell you how to get it. This article gonna fill the gap in your knowledge.

I’ve created the 100% passive source of income 2,5 years ago. It took me 2 weeks of work and investigation. Except for that 2 weeks, I did nothing. From that moment until now, my bank account has been receiving $30–100 per month. An average is $50.

It’s damn cool getting paid for your 2,5-year-old efforts. Passive income is not one of the false myths. It exists.

But enough chitchat. Let’s go to the numbers and proofs. Then I gonna explain everything in detail.

Don’t you know what is Udemy? Here is the quote from Wikipedia.

Udemy, Inc. is a for-profit massive open online course (MOOC) provider aimed at professional adults and students. It was founded in May 2010 by Eren Bali, Gagan Biyani, and Oktay Caglar.

As of September of 2021, the platform has more than 46 million students, 175,000 courses, and 60,000 instructors teaching courses in over 75 languages. There have been over 644 million course enrollments.

Students take courses primarily to improve job-related skills. Some courses generate credit toward technical certification.

I became an Udemy instructor and created my own video course there. That option is available for everyone.

It took me 2 weeks from the idea to complete implementation.

These weren’t easy 2 weeks. I worked hard, googled a lot, and learned new things every day. It’s a true challenge to create a video course if you have never created videos previously.

Hope you understand that there is no way to get something without giving first. You need to invest your time or money to create a source of passive income. Only then will you relax and make a profit.

2 Week Way to the Goal

At that moment, I was fond of guitar and was learning it myself. To be honest, I wasn’t a really cool guitar player. The regular beginner.

But I decided to create a course with help from my 70 years old guitar teacher. There were no doubts I gonna make millions of dollars selling it online. Well, I was wrong a little…

The first issue I faced was competition. Udemy had 715k+ courses. A great bunch of them about how to play guitar. That was the main topic of my potential course.

The Pareto’s principle works like a charm there — the top-1 course received 80% new pupils. Also, there were 2,000 more courses at that top. They were splitting leftover 20% of traffic.

Creating a 2,001st guitar course wasn’t an excellent idea…

The second problem was a lack of knowledge. Not about guitar, my teacher was helping me a lot with it. But I didn’t know English. Neither did my mentor.

It was serious.

Currently, Udemy supports many languages, but then it was only 4. English, Spanish, German and Russian.

There was an elegant solution to solve both my issues at once. I decided to create a guitar course in Russian. Actually, it was the only available option.

Udemy is an international learning platform, so the focus is on English. Still, there were many Russian-speaking people there like me.

Also, there were only a couple of courses in Russian at all. None of them was about the guitar. It was a perfect niche. There are 21 courses now, and mine is still the top-1 course in the Russian section. 2,5 years ago, there was only one, mine.

So I created a course for beginners. From zero to advanced level. Huge credit to my instructor — Boris Shlukov! He was and still is a true rock star!

And it worked! People were buying the course. The niche became mine.

Overall feedback was positive. It was a pure success!

Passive Income Takeaway

Right after the course release date, I got some personal issues. I had to abandon that project for a long 6 months. It wasn’t super, but I had no other choice.

Luckily the process didn’t require control or my attention at all!

I had no time to even check how it was going. Imagine my shock when I received a note about a money transfer to my bank account. I got $240 in 6 months. Then checks started to grow, and that passive income stream has never stopped. It is even better than being a high-paid employee.

The fantastic thing about Udemy is that you don’t really care about marketing and promotion. Udemy does it for you. The only thing you need is to create valuable content.

Creating unique and remarkable content isn’t easy, especially if you are not an expert in the field. But there are tricks you can use. The first of them is clear from my story.

Create a course in your own language!

The target audience of your course is your country. It is hard to be the best one in the world. But it isn’t so complex to be the best in your country. At least you should give it a try.

There is one more trick for creating quality content.

Get an expert in your team!

It can be your friend or teacher. Someone who has proper expertise in the field you want to crush. You can pay that expert (investing money) or find another way to deal. It is up to you.

But you definitely need someone to be qualified in the topic of your course. Otherwise what kind of content are you going to provide?
