This week has been the best for me yet on Medium.

I’m not talking about the $ though, I’m talking about in followers. Sure, the little bit of spare change I’m making is nice. But I love to see when I get new followers.

I like to check out their page and read their stories.

I often look at their photo and contemplate why they might have started following me.

What could be interesting about little old me?

So this week was especially fun because I gained a little over 100 new followers in just 7 days. 🎉✨🌟

Here’s what I did differently this month.

Small Changes That Made A Big Difference

I Stopped depending on AI

Let’s face it. We can all recognize the overused AI words that pop up in stories. Now when I read one, I usually don’t finish the story. Who’s to say my readers aren’t doing the same?

My love for AI has slowly dwindled and the excitement for it is closer to a candle when the wick is almost gone, drowning in the last of its wax.

I still use AI to create emojis and to find the perfect word now and then if I just can’t seem to spit it out or clearly say what I’m thinking, but for most of this week’s writing, I’ve said goodbye to AI.

I started writing about Making Money on Medium

The most followers were won on a single day with a single article. Let’s just say it like it is. Money talks, BS walks…

Next, I followed

Last week I started to follow more people on Medium. I went to my list of followers and started there. I recognized who was communicating with me and went to read their stories. Then I followed them back. Love is love.

Big Changes That Made A Small Difference

Created a Giveaway

This is my way of giving back to others who aren’t making money on Medium… yet. 😉 It’s not a lot, $5/month, but most people’s articles don’t even earn that much over a month. So I hope my readers will find value in the giveaway.

And Last, I Found What Was Missing

I realized that I couldn't find a skincare publication on Medium to send my articles to, so I decided to open one. Opening a publication is free and while the publication is in its beginning stages has proved to be minimal work so far. We’ll see as I add writers and categories, keeping my fingers crossed that it will grow.

I don’t know if I made these changes this month because it’s a new year or exactly why, but I’m glad I’ve made them.
