Summary

Tarun Gupta, the editor of "Humans Are Stories," has clarified that the publication welcomes submissions from all writers, including those who are not part of the Medium Partner Program or have fewer than 100 followers, and has shared an interview and submission guidelines.

Abstract

The editor of the Medium publication "Humans Are Stories," Tarun Gupta, has recently engaged with the writing community through an interview with Nikki Waterson from The Publication Station. This interaction has led to a clarification that the publication is open to submissions from a diverse range of writers, not just those established on Medium. Gupta emphasizes that "Humans Are Stories" is inclusive of new voices, including writers with less than 100 followers or those not enrolled in the Medium Partner Program. He reminisces about his own beginnings with zero followers and encourages new writers to contribute. Detailed submission guidelines are provided in a separate story, inviting writers to join the publication and share their work. Additionally, Gupta invites readers to support him and other writers by becoming Medium members, which provides unlimited access to stories on the platform and supports writers financially.

What has changed for Humans Are Stories?

A couple of weeks ago, I became part of The Publication Station community run jointly by Carrie. A. Kelly and Nikki Waterson over on Facebook and Slack. And had an interview about Humans Are Stories and what it entails with Nikki. We had a fantastic conversation (Thank you, Nikki, and Carrie for this opportunity). The first part of the interview is out now; you can watch it here:

I came upon a realization when I was walking my way through the community. I realized that my publication Humans Are Stories doesn’t explicitly say that I accept submissions from writers who are not either Medium Partner Program members or have less than 100 followers. I was never opposed to that and never will be. I, too, started at zero followers.

This story makes it explicit that writers who are not Medium Partner Program members or have less than 100 followers are more than welcome to submit their stories.

To be added as a writer to Humans Are Stories and the submission guidelines, read the below story. It consists of everything in probably excruciating detail.

I look forward to meeting new writers and their wonderful submissions.
