10 Tips to Survive a Long Haul Flight
Yes, you CAN get through a 15-hour flight!

If you’ve read about my long-haul flights, you’ll understand how difficult it can be to make yourself comfortable.
Here are some solid tips for how you can get through the long hours.
Don’t Be Afraid to Look Stupid
When you’re literally in for the long haul, comfort is all that matters.
It doesn’t matter if your bright yellow polka dot leggings look funny.
If they are your most comfortable pair of pants, wear them.
Upgrade Your Seat
If you collect travel points, upgrade your seat.
Otherwise, pay extra if your budget has flexibility.
Extra legroom and space for sleeping are crucial for a long flight.

Chug the Water!
We all know how dry it can get in the cabin.
I know you don’t want to use the restroom all the time. Especially if you have to jump over two people to get out.
Feeling dehydrated is unbelievably uncomfortable.
Skip the alcohol and drink as much water as you can.
If you still want to avoid using the restroom, chug more water as you near landing time. Then you can use the washroom in the airport instead.
Wear Layers
As night settles in, it can get cold. Make sure you wear some layers so you can stay warm.
If you fly business class, you get a blanket, so that’s great.
Otherwise, I use my jacket as a blanket, which works well.
I’ve heard horror stories of unwashed blankets, so I try to avoid using them.
Get Some Shuteye!
Of course, try to get as much sleep as possible.
I know, it’s difficult to get quality sleep when you’re trapped in a little metal cabin in the sky.
There’s no room to lie down and finding a comfortable position is impossible.
Do whatever you can to get a little bit of sleep.

Bring as Little as Possible
I always avoid bringing a lot of luggage.
It’s just a hassle to store your things and there is a risk of losing stuff.
I keep it down to a small carry-on and purse.
Take Care of Your Eyes
The dryness in the plane sucks out the moisture from you.
Not only does your throat feel dry, so do your skin and eyes! Bring eye drops.
If you don’t have any, wet some tissue and place it over your eyes for a minute or two.
Moisturize
Going back to “don’t be afraid to look stupid”..go ahead and throw on a moisturizing face mask. No one cares.
Pack a small skincare bag with face lotion and serum.

Load Your Gadgets
The plane has an entertainment system and I’ve used it to watch movies.
Two movies kill about 5 hours of time, so it’s a good way to keep yourself occupied.
If movies are not your thing, bring an e-book reader or your own music collection.
My preference is to watch a few movies and sleep. I’ll play around a little bit on my phone too.
I’m lucky I can usually sleep on the plane!
Take Advantage of Your Connection
If you have a few hours in between flights, take advantage of it.
Brush your teeth, change your clothes or comb your hair.
You’ll feel refreshed and more alert for the next flight.
So there you go! If you’re planning a long haul sometime soon, I hope these 10 tips help you get through the flight comfortably!
