10 Loveable Things About Me

  1. I say, “Yes!” to new things. Like the Improv classes I recently took. The entire premise of Improv is to say, “yes,” and go with it. I was so nervous the morning of the first class. I knew no one and had zero ideas of what I was walking into. So, as any healthy person would do, I added a bit of fermented grape juice to my breakfast. You know, just to take the edge off. :)
  2. My loving heart. I want everyone to feel loved, secure, and happy.
  3. There’s rebel blood, running through my veins. I don’t mind stepping into the arena if what’s at stake is just.
  4. Despite it not necessarily being what someone wants to hear … I tell the truth.
  5. Curiosity is my middle name. Well, actually, Jo is my middle name, but I am seriously filled with curiosity about anything and everything.
  6. I love that I am creative and enjoy exploring different facets of the creative process.
  7. My love of animals is high on my list. I’ve had rescues for most of my adult life. My two small dogs are going to be nine and ten this year. In order not to inflict loss on a dog incapable of understanding, I’ve decided that when my littles are gone I’ll foster hospice dogs for the local shelters. These are dogs that have terminal diagnoses that need a loving home to live out the remainder of their time. I love the idea of being the person who gets to snuggle them up.
  8. It thrills me that I like being alone. Thrill sounds crazy, right? But it’s true. I love that my things are where I leave them and if I want to stay up until the wee hours no one gives me grief. I think living alone plays well with my ADHD.
  9. I love that I am empathetic. It’s particularly difficult for me when I learn that someone lost a partner suddenly. I do know what that’s like. It’s an entirely unique agony because every facet of your life is changed. Every single thing.
  10. I love that I am not a stodgy old person. I enjoy learning new things, skipping down the street, or splashing in a slush puddle, that I can belt out an explicit tune as Maneskin blasts through the house and switch to a ballad by Barbra Streisand that brings a tear to my eye.
  11. I love that I can still see the wonder.

Hmm … I love myself. Man, it’s taken a long time to reach that milestone, but here I am!
