Views… How do we increase our views on Medium? And attain the big bucks like some writers on the platform?

In a few short words, I will be telling you how to exactly do that, lets get to the list!

Publications

Publications are one of the best ways to increase your views on Medium. Nonetheless, they are tough to get into! So you might ask “Luis how can I get accepted?” Simply by using tools like Smedian. Smedian allows writers like us to apply to publications by a click of a button. The other best way I found to get accepted to publications, is merely submitting to ones that do not have a large audience nor a small one.

This is because the larger the publication is, the more submissions they’ll need to read. Which will decrease the chances of getting accepted, unless your writing is incredibly good.

One way on finding these publications is by clicking on writers articles and find a publisher they write for. For ease of use, you can check my profile for the publications I write for.

Key Points:

Publication must not be too large nor too small, which will increase the rate of you being accepted if they’re smaller.

Check writers profiles to find the publications they write for.

You can apply easily on Smedian but it’s drastically harder to get accepted through this.

The more followers a publication has, the more submissions they’ll need to deal with, find a key balance between the two, for you to be accepted easily.

Writers are a great way to find which publication they write for, check their writing style and their follower amount. If their follower amount is near your level or their write style is at the same level as yours or worse then apply to their publications.

Facebook Groups

Facebook groups are one of the main ways I advertise my articles online. It is also incredibly easy to join Facebook groups, simply said you must read the groups guidelines and upload your article adhering to those guidelines.

You can find these groups by going to Facebook and typing in Medium writers. That way you can find the most popular groups on Facebook to join.

Pinterest

Although Pinterest does not produce any clicks to my article, I always keep in mind that I want to extend my reach by utilising different social media accounts, Pinterest is one of them.

Pinterest is based on users sharing information they find useful, Which is a great place to be if you are a blogger. Users of Pinterest share articles/links a lot more than other social networks, it is also a very easy way to get views just by simply adding a pin of your article to your account.

Pinterest is a sharing platform, users sharing is very common on Pinterest if they enjoyed the information you provide.

By Pinning once you can get traffic organically without advertising

Utilise every platform to get views from different sectors and not just one sector, upon doing so, see which one is more effective and focus on the main one to increase your views.

Quora

Quora is a question-based platform where if someone has a question in mind they put it on the website and hope for a user to reply to it.

This is great but why? because it allows YOU to answer it. For instance, if the question is “What are different revenue sources I can have?” You can briefly answer it and link it to your article. Not only will you gain the possibility of the person reading your article, but whoever searches for the same question you will pop up due to your answer.

By answering a question on Quora, you are able to link your article to provide more information In regards to that question. You will also appear as an answer whenever someone searches a similar question.

Medium

For my articles to get noticed I use a few tricks on Medium like when I finish writing an article I am allowed to tag it to a certain niche. e.g. #lifelessons, #bloggingtips. What you can do is mix these tags to your article. with competitive tags consisting of 4.1k and also low-end tags with 40 articles linked to them. This gives you an advantage due to the ability of you ranking higher with a few claps, with this, you will also gain new readers. As for the competitive tags, you should put them for the possibility of your article being curated, since if it is, it will quickly appear as a top result in that competitive tag.

With Medium, mix competitive tags and tags consisting of low volume, this will allow you to rank higher on the lower tags and if your article is curated it will allow you to rank high in competitive tags.

Link your other articles to on one of your articles

When you are writing an article, do mention your other articles and link to them if it is related and beneficial to the reader. This will increase the possibility of you increasing an extra view of the article you recommended

Make your quotes easily highlightable

Whenever I write an article, I try to make short quotes or provide useful information in the forms of a quotation. This is because if it is highlighted then whenever a user goes to the profile of that specified person, then they will see my article as one they have highlighted. Which in turn might give me a view and possibly a follower.
