Chapter 1.1 — “Let’s Make a Deal” （我们来做笔交易吧）

Whoever wishes to live in sanctity, may he live according to the true laws of commerce and finance.

任何希望生活在圣洁中的人，愿他按照真正的商业和金融法则去行事。

拉比邦德在这一节的开始引用了上述的犹太巴比伦塔木德（Babylonian Talmud）警言。

而我以为邦德接下来的几段文字阐明了他所谓的“真正的商业和金融法则” — —

“Let’s do a gesheft” — let’s make a deal — are words that, when pronounced on earth, trigger great commotion Heaven. “我们来做笔交易吧” — 做笔交易 — 人们在地球上说出这样的词语，震动了天堂。

Doing business in the world as imagined by the rabbis puts to the test all our efforts towards culture, spirituality, and individual responsibility where it extends beyond our own needs to others. 在拉比想象的世界里，做生意是考验我们是否在文化、灵性和个人责任方面做出努力，这努力使得我们能够超越自我所需而去顾及他人。

The Market is, therefore, where each individual’s fitness to survive is in accordance with his or her own perception of what survival is. Survival is the ability to support ourselves physically and live up to our responsibilities. These responsibilities are fundamental so that exchanges may be made within a rabbinical Market and not within nature. 因此，市场就是这样一个地方，在这里每个人的适应力不尽相同，取决于他或她对生存的认知。生存则不仅只是养活自己而且还是履行责任的一种能力。责任是必尽的，因此交易可能在拉比定义的市场内进行，但不能在自由状态进行。
