在德國「乾杯唔望眼，扑嘢衰七年」German’s 7 years of bad sex Myth

有沒有聽說過跟德國人「乾杯」（”Prost”）的時候，當你不看著對方的眼睛，就會有連續七年的不愉快性事？

在我約18歲的時候（不是很久前…才怪），朋友帶我到一個生日party。有一位住在香港的奧地利人帶來一位來港一星期的德國遊客朋友。 當時我大部份的外籍朋友，除了亞洲的印菲泰日，歐洲的就多來自英/法兩國，也有幾個北歐人，德國人卻很少接觸到。 那次生日party的朋友也廿多三十歲，年紀（對當時的我來說）稍大。

談天說地了一會，大家乾杯。我那時仍很習慣英國朋友那種「不要死盯著對方，這樣不禮貌」的乾杯方法，先看一看對方臉笑，然後都是盯著杯來說 “cheers”。

當我跟那位德國朋友乾杯時，他便很認真的盯著我，說：

「如果乾杯時不看進對方眼裡，你會有seven years of bad sex」。

我笑了，說這是在說笑吧，不可能有這樣的習俗吧。

法國朋友說：「是有的，大致上歐洲都這麼說，不過德國人更加重視」…（我總覺得這說話有點骨，但為了避免第三次世界大戰在一個港島小屋生日party上爆發，我裝聽不到算了。）英國朋友嘴邊一歪，好像在忍笑，我更加搞不懂究竟是什麼事。

出於好奇，我追問下去。真的有這樣的事？七年性霉運？

因為那朋友笑著說，我還以爲他在無中生有，其他朋友也在笑，我總覺得他們可能是在配合他。

他們後來談論起來，說是真的，應該是起源於德國，不過法國西班牙也久不久有人會講。

那次之後我還是心裡有疑，每次外出遇上朋友間有德國人，乾杯時我都會問是不是有這樣的事。他們一致說是這樣的，多年後我才肯相信（好硬頸…) 然而之後每次乾杯我都死盯著對方的眼睛了，說是否迷信也好，看了又不會死，但七年性事霉運真是想想也… XD

不過話說回來，我跟不同國家的朋友乾杯都會問他們的語言「乾杯」怎麼說，那時也學了 “Prost” 這個德文。所以外語中的「乾杯」，我懂得以粵語/日文/泰文/德文/英文/國語/芬蘭文/法文/葡文/瑞典文/挪威文/印尼話/西班牙文來說 XDDDDDDDD

以後大家記住乾杯時要看進對方眼睛裡了！

When I was about 18 years old (well not so long ago … right) a friend took me to a birthday party. Back then my friends were mostly from South East Asia, and European friends are mostly British and French. But in the party, there were some Austrians (not Australians) and Germans. The groups of new friends were older than me — they were in their mid-twenties to early 30.

After a while of chatting, we started toasting. I was so used to the British way of not staring into other people’s eyes all the time, because that’s impolite. When I toasted with a German, he stared at me very seriously and said,

“Look into the eyes, or you’ll get seven years of bad sex.”

I thought it was a joke, but later they said that there really is such a saying in Europe, especially in Germany, France and Spain. But my French friends never told me, so I guess the Germans take it more seriously. Since then, every time I’ve met a German I would ask if that’s true, and everyone says it is. With friends from many countries, over the years I’ve learnt “Cheers” in many languages including German, French, Finnish, Swedish, Japanese, and plus in Thai/Cantonese etc that I already knew. XD

So remember to look into the eyes now! :)
