You’ve Been Accepted into the Medium Partner Program
What should you do next?

Well, first of all, congratulations! This is a HUGE accomplishment and you should be very proud of yourself. I want you to know that I’m proud of you!
But, there are a few things you should do to continue this wave of momentum and set yourself up for success.
- Make sure that your stories are metered
This step is super important if you want to earn money from Medium. From now on out, you’ll have the option to check this box when you go to publish.
However, for your old stories, you will need to go back to the editing page and turn it on.

2. Add your email and referral link to the bottom
You can find the links in your personal Medium settings page under Audience Development. From there, you can personalize the wording and then copy the links to include at the bottom of each article. When I was accepted into the Medium Partner Program, I already had 25 stories written. So, I went back and added it to each one!

3. Review your stats for stories that are performing well
I’m perhaps a bit addicted to looking at my stats, so maybe I’m not the best person to give this advice. Don’t be like me. But, make sure to review your stats regularly to get a sense of which articles people are reading and enjoying. Then, you can use that information to guide the types of things you write about next.
4. Consider using publications
You can broaden your audience by joining a publication and sharing your articles that way. If you’re just starting out, then share your story in About Me Stories. Some of my other go-to publications are Illumination and Coffee Times.
5. Build your community
Look, you didn’t get into the Medium Partner Program alone. You needed 100 followers to get approved. Make sure to stay engaged with your community.
Respond to comments, read articles and provide comments, and send claps to other writers.
You know that old saying, treat others the way you want to be treated? Well, that goes for this platform as well.
Treat articles the way you want your articles to be treated.
The super cool thing about Medium is that everyone can win here. We just need to support one another!
6. Believe in yourself
I started blogging in February 2021. I was so afraid of making mistakes that it took years for me to feel comfortable putting myself out there like that. I could have been a successful blogger by now if I had kept going when I first tried blogging in 2011.
Now, I’m reviewing posts from a year ago and I’m finding typos and grammar mistakes, but you know what? People still liked my articles and left helpful kind comments. We are often our own worst critics.
So, believe in yourself and know that your writing will improve over time. But you just need to do it!
7. Have fun!
I love writing and sharing my thoughts and ideas. For years, I forced myself into this academic box of scholarly writing. And it’s only now that I’m realizing it took the fun out of writing for me.
So, I’m super excited to be on Medium. And I can’t wait to see what you’re writing!
If you’re still here, drop a comment if this was helpful. And I’ll come to show your articles some love. Let’s build each other up!
