You’re not living till you can express your creativity Freely

“We all have genius within us, never doubt that fact.” -Catherine Pulsifer
We all have something that makes us unique. When I started writing frequently, I knew I had found my thing. It felt so natural and comfortable.
It was nice to do something I was really good at and enjoyed. It didn’t feel like work but the difficult part was making it a must to write every day — to turn it to a habit.
I believe nobody is born without the ability to create. We were born in God’s image, and God is the first person that showed creativity. Till today, nobody has successfully created his own human beings or world.
We were all created by him, so we have no right to not express our creativity. Many excuses may hold you back from exhibiting your creativity, but once you start, you would wonder what you’ve been doing all your life.
We were born with many gifts — more than you can imagine, but many people die without expressing their art with the world. It’s through our Art and creativity that we show our connections with our spirits. Then we find out who we truly are.
Everything you create has a spirit. How do you explain the emotions and feelings we get when we look at paintings or listen to people sing? I’m not saying your creativity must be singing or painting. All I’m saying is our art is our window to know who we truly are
“Creativity helps us flourish by teaching us who we are, what we love, and what we can give to the world.”-Julie Guirgis
It’s normal to give yourself thousands of excuses not to start, but doing so would keep you from truly experiencing who you are and what you can give to the world. I believe we all came into this world for a reason. We all have something unique to share, but it’s a wasted life if all we do is chase after riches and doing something totally different from who we are.
There’s not a better time than now to express your creativity and show the genius in you because there are more opportunities to make a living out of your art. There are many channels you can sell yourself through. And many people are willing to see and pay for what you have to express.
I used to hold myself back for some reason, but the major one was I was worried about what people would think. I’m going to list some common reasons I gave myself, and I’ll show you why it’s not enough to stop you.
I didn’t want to get Mocked
This also goes side by side with asking yourself what people would think. It takes courage to put yourself out there, but the reward you would get surpasses keeping what you have to yourself.
People would criticize you, Sure. But the way you get love is the same way you get hate. So, just use it to your advantage and get better.
I felt like I wasn’t good enough
This is the most common of all excuses. We usually don’t say it, but we feel it. And the feeling cripples us. We don’t take action because of it.
The irony of it is, nobody ever starts as an expert, even the people that look like they are natural at it had and still have room for improvement. Develop a mindset that you can be better — and you will.
Sometimes you see other people who are doing it better, and you feel like you cannot be as good as they are. You’re getting it wrong if you keep comparing yourself with others because they started as amateurs, worrying about them wouldn’t do you any good.
I worried that many people were already doing the same thing
Who is in charge of monitoring the number of writers or photographers there are? Is there a particular amount of photographers the world needs? If your answer isn’t yes, then I don’t see why you should worry.
No two people are the same. Even identical twins have unique qualities. You have something unique to bring to the table. Whenever you feel this thought coming, tell yourself that the world needs you — It’s funny, but it works
How to become better at your Art
“Genius is perseverance in disguise.” Mike Newlin
Devote parts of your day to create something
Nothing sticks without intense practice. As you do it over and over, it becomes effortless to you. Every day, I write a 1000words article. There are some days that I forget and get tempted to sleep off, but I see it a the sacrifice I have to take to get better at what I do.
Whether you paint, sing, knit, or whatever, just find a way to create something every day. And over time, your growth would compound, and you would see a difference.
Explore
Find creativity in everything. You don’t have to be in the same place or do the same things all the time. Read books, go places, and expose yourself to new ideas.
Why should you do this? There are some days that you would feel inspired to create. When you move, you would see new opportunities and more things that can inspire your creativity.
Take Breaks
Part of becoming exceptional at what you do is to become obsessed with what you do. But even in all the obsession, you need a breather.
You need time to reset and unplug from work so that when you get back to work, you’d be pumped. Just don’t die on the job.
Start
All these things I’ve said just point to one thing — Start. You cannot move past where you are currently if you don’t start. If you keep giving excuses, you won’t move forward.
Once you start creating, you build momentum and become one with your purpose.
