Your normal life might help somebody else

When I lived in China I watched a few TV series. I still remember my favourite episode. One of them was when Ai Ling, the heroine, broke up with her boyfriend who she had wanted to marry because he met another woman in a plane and they had fallen in love. The woman whom he met was a famous newscaster.
Ai Ling was deeply hurt and also felt jealous of the woman who is higher profiled, younger and more beautiful than her.
One day during her dark period, Ai Ling went out for drinks with one of her closest friends, Mao Na. They talked about how bad and helpless her ex-boyfriend was and how stupid and nasty his new girlfriend is.
In the same bar, where there weren’t many customers that night, there were two young women sitting at the table behind Ai Ling and Mao Na. The two young women were gossiping and talking about the famous newscaster who was the new girlfriend of Ai Ling’s ex-boyfriend. They were laughing about the fact that the beautiful newscaster, who was supposed to be very intelligent, made a pronunciation mistake in the broadcast of a night before.
The two women didn’t notice that Ai Ling and Mao Na were listening to them. They were having a typical gossip type of conversation as lots of people do in a bar.
However, their conversation helped Ai Ling to feel slightly better. Mao Na said to her, “See? Everybody hates her (the newscaster)!” When Ai Ling and Mao Na left the bar, they bought a bottle of red wine for the young ladies, even though they hadn’t said a word to each other.
A lot of people think that their lives are mundane and not worth sharing with others. However, just like the episode above, a small and normal conversation can help somebody else. That episode is fiction, but I believe that it happens in reality too.
A tiny piece of your life or a thin slice of your day may be useful to others sometimes. That’s why I keep writing even when I think, “This story is nothing special,” or “This may be boring to readers.” Who knows?
The words which somebody says casually without thinking could help somebody else, although they also could hurt others as well. In the same way, your ‘boring’ life might have meaning to somebody.
I believe that the world is waiting for your story, my story and our stories. That’s why I am writing today and I will write tomorrow as well.
