How will accomplish them?

At the stroke of midnight on the 1st of January, more than 80% of the Earth’s population was proclaiming goals and making resolutions. If you are like the 80%, then today you are wondering how can I accomplish these goals. Because by now, you have been significantly detailed from the goals you had set only 14 days ago. How will you accomplish your New Year Goals?

Now is not the time to panic nor wonder. getting on track and staying goal-bound is as simple as 4 steps. Each step has principles that you apply to all aspects of your life to achieve whatever goals you want. 4-step plan to get you back on the path to achieving your New Years' goals in 2022.

Make realistic goals

The first step is to set realistic goals. Goals like “flying to the moon” or “becoming a Billionaire” are realistic, but “Is it for you?”

This is usually the problem with a lot of people. If you are NOT preparing your life in the direction of the goals you want to achieve then you are practically unrealistic and by extension unachievable. This brings me to a quote I would always hear from my father…which has been a motto for me.

By failing to preparing, then you are preparing to fail!

Achieving goals do not happen with wishes on a star, or fair-god parents. It takes preparation. By good to school and working in the professions that places you squarely in the line to visit the moon then you will surely visit the moon. Or by sharpening your entrepreneurial skills and making successful investments becoming a Billionaire will be a walk in the park.

This brings me to the next step.

Nothing comes easy

Have you ever wondered why rich people still work? I mean they are already rich they wouldn’t need to work. Have you ever wondered how rich people got rich in the first place? Writers, who may be reading this post, how are is it to earn a living from writing?

It's funny when I listen to some young people today. Many believe they can inherit wealth and they will stay rich forever. I do believe that they are living in an alternate universe. Because in the real world nothing falls into your lap. It takes work, hard work, to achieve those finer things in life.

But back to my first question. After working tirelessly to achieve the only way to maintain what you have is to continue working. It is impossible to maintain good health or wealth, or a company of a house in good working condition without continued work.

So you who have vowed to get 20lbs lighter from 2022, guess how you will achieve this goal? First, you have to work, with exercise, diet, and healthy food choices, to lose the pounds. Then work harder to keep the weight off.

What I can tell you though, even though the work will be hard at the beginning, then like a muscle accustomed to a certain weight it becomes easy, easy easy.

Consistency is Key!

So working hard on realistic goals will help us achieve them. But what about maintaining the benefits of these goals? Consistency is more important than just the result. For 2 reasons:

1. Consistency is the key to getting you to the goals.

Let me explain. Let’s say you want to get good grades in school this semester. First, you have to make a study timetable that includes an extra hour of study time, to review lessons and/or read ahead. By doing this daily you will get to those good grades at the end of the term.

It's the same with any other achievements in life. It takes daily efforts to make decisions and/or plans to get you to that goals. But this is only to get you there.

2. Consistency will keep you achieving goals

You have already improved your grades and graduated with honors from college. You are in pursuit of a job. Guess what your letters of recommendation will say to convince employers to hire you? “You consistently produce good work”. This is what all employers want, someone who will continuously produce excellent results.

Health enthusiasts know to get the pounds off, they have to make choice daily. Whether to eat right or to exercise or even the amount of rest. you need to continue to make good decisions.

Work hard, play hard

When my siblings and I were little, my grandmother always said this quote when she wants us to take a break…

“All play and no work makes Jack a dull boy, All work and no play still makes Jack a dull boy”

We were always confused when she said it. But what do you think she is saying about Jack? Yes, you guessed it we have to balance work and play.

Rest is a natural process of the body, and of any system for that matter. It is practically impossible for anything system, even the energizer bunny to keep going without wear and tear. This is the reason for rest!

Rest heals and revitalizes the body and mind while limiting distractions. It would be a shame to be like Jack who worked a lot and still was dull. Resting is the most important part of getting to success. By resting the mind and body, we can maximize periods of work.

What I like to do is

  1. Plan my tasks for the day, Allotting adequate time to complete each task (with a few extra minutes just in case something goes wrong).
  2. Place 10 minutes breaks throughout the day.
  3. Leave time for impromptu activities.

In a nutshell

You can get back on track to achieving your 2022 goals. Just follow these 4 steps:

  1. Make realistic goals
  2. Work hard, because nothing comes easy
  3. Be consistent with everything
  4. Work hard, play hard
