Your Life Is One Big Beautiful Contribution

Ways to figure out what it is you are supposed to be doing

I worked a job I hated for 11 years. That’s 4015 days of blood, sweat, tears in agony, and defeat. Day in and Day out. I would wake up in the morning. Take my pillow to a nice quiet area where my family couldn’t hear me — And SCREAM as loud as humanely possible into it. Then, my workday would begin.

Some days were better than others. I got to meet some lifelong friends — But for the most part, it was total torture until the end of the workday. Then I would drown out any sense of life purpose or way out with alcohol. Rinse and repeat. Days, months, and years flew by living this way.

You eventually just feel like your going through the motions each day. Little by little you get sucked down deeper and deeper into places only your mind can go about how your life is currently going. For a brief moment, you wake up and really truly want a change.

You think… Is this it? This is all life has to offer for me? I want better for myself and for my family. What is my purpose? Can I please reset the balance in my life some how some way?

We are more than just mindless drones going about our day. We ALL have a meaningful life's purpose. It can take a lifetime to figure out OR we get to know early in life. No two are the same. Everything we do in this life really matters in some way, shape or form.

There are things that only I can do — And there are things that only you can do. It’s time to finally get motivated and find your true purpose so you can help yourself and others all around you in your everyday life.

Find what you love. Find what you are good at. Find what the world around you needs. Let’s start there…

Knowing who YOU are is the first step.

First off, who are you? Why were you put on this earth? I think about this every day… You are who you are. Unique and special in your own way. Sounds cliche, I know, but it really is true. Give it a second to sink in. No two of us are alike, not even twins.

Your desires, strengths, and weaknesses — All rolled into one mind, body, and soul. Waiting to be unleashed onto the world with everything that goes on in your head.

Getting to know yourself is more than just finding out what you are good at or want to do in life. It’s about taking the time each day to grow more and more into the person you are shaping up to be and will be one day. Try to take your time and not be in a rush to be the final you already. Doesn’t work this way.

We are such powerful beings once we attain that certain level of awareness. It’s waiting for all of us to one day get close to it and finally touch it. Then one day you get to truly answer this question and know what and who you actually are meant to be.

Will you find out tomorrow? Will you find out today? This is the true beauty and mystery of what our everyday life has to offer us. Embrace the journey of YOU — Only happens once.

Embrace your intuition and heart’s desires.

Where is life leading you right now? Sometimes the things we don’t want most keep showing up in our lives and sometimes they do. Use your intuition to help guide and steer you where it is you want to be going. Intuition exists and lives in all of us. Grab a hold and trust your gut feeling when something does or doesn’t feel right.

Some days just take a long break and listen to your heart. Some days you will hear nothing and go about your day — And sometimes you will hear a roaring heartbeat full of passion leading into your next life's adventure. That heartbeat is telling you it's time to feel something intense and incredible and get ready for another journey together.

Let the heart and your gut intuition work together here as you find new and incredible things about yourself every day.

Put your plans into action.

Eventually, you will have to make real-life decisions. What do I want to be? Where do I want to work? How will I support myself? This is where you have to make the hard decisions about your life.

Some decisions will be easier to make than others. Just know that you eventually have to get moving in any direction. The only way to learn anything is by getting out there and just start doing it. It took me 3 years to finally get the courage to start writing but here I am finally doing it.

Sometimes you don’t always get to do what you want right away. You might, unfortunately, have to take a job you don’t want to do OR be something you don’t want to be doing just to make a living. All of the things that happen in your life are and will always be for a reason.

You don’t have to like it but just know it's happening for some unknown reason right now. Eventually, things will show you a way in or out of things you get into.

But in my life, I’ve known this to be true — Everything is always temporary and has a certain purpose. The job that I hated helped me put a down payment on a house as I got older. That job taught me real hard life lessons about what happens when you don’t plan or just wing it for your future.

Good and bad things happen to all kinds of people. The time will come in your life when you need to put your plans into action and trust that it can work out. There are never any guarantees, only life lessons along the way. Get moving onto something time is all we have and it’s wasting.

“Fool me once, shame on you. Fool me twice, shame on me. Fool me three times, shame on both of us.” — Stephen King

Make sure you learn from your mistakes.

You burned yourself on the stove as a kid. What did it teach you? Doing something you are not supposed to do really really hurts and will continue to hurt if you keep doing it. Learn your damn lesson and move on from it!

I used to drink the night away to ignore and drown out all my problems. Morning came and then I would be in pain all day with a hangover. Lesson learned? NOPE.

You will always make mistakes in anything you try to do or accomplish in life — This is facts. What separates us is when we actually learn from our mistakes and get to overcome them. Not only overcome them but to have actually learned something valuable and never do it again.

You try something new. Make mistakes. Figure out how to get better. Erase the mistakes. Try again. Get better and learn something new. At first this process is painful — But then pain turns into reward and pleasure from success.

Sit down and find out all the negatives in your life right now. Drinking, smoking, bad eating, toxic negative people, etc. Make a list (this could take a while). Anything that is holding you back from your goals in this life. Even the small stuff matters — Don’t short-change yourself here.

Slowly find ways to erase all these things from your life in any way you see fit. You can’t learn from your mistakes if you keep surrounding and putting yourself in negative situations. Nobody said life was easy — But it does get better when we learn from our mistakes.

Be kind to others and help those in need.

Ahh, the golden rule. “Do unto others as you would have them do unto you.” It’s just so true — I love it.

There’s no better way to live in this life. Being able to help someone less fortunate than you in any way is the only way. It’s up to every one of us to make sure this applies to every part of our daily lives to make everything around us that much better.

Give your time to someone in need when they need it. Give people genuine compliments. Encourage friends or family members when they are having a rough time in their lives. Show compassion to people when they are in need.

Always pay it forward when you can. Never know when the time comes in your life when you need some kind of help that you have no control over. Be self-less before selfish.

You give your time and do the right thing when it's needed most the universe will take notice. It’s the little things like this that add up and eventually, you get so used to doing nice things for people it just becomes a daily habit.

Live the life you want.

What if I asked you this question…

If money had no value and you didn’t have to worry about it what would you be doing on a daily basis with your life?

I thought about this and it still baffles me. What would we all be doing every day? Imagine the communities we would live in and get to be a part of.

I mean, I get it it's not reality right — But start there. Take a little time out of each day in your busy hectic life to take something back for yourself. Learn a new skill. Take up a new hobby. Read more. Maybe it's time to learn to write. Find that old spark and make it new again.

It’s just time to start on the things you’ve been wanting all these years to do but never have time for. Now’s the time. Now’s your time.

Really think and start working on things you want to be a reality in your life. Hopefully, someday all your hard work pays off for you. The end goal is to live the life we want but also be realistic in those wishes as well. Start small here and eventually it will happen. Just takes hard work and a lot of patience.

Final thoughts.

“Never think that what you have to offer is insignificant. There will always be someone out there that needs what you have to give.” — Anonymous

If our life truly is just one big continuous contribution throughout the entirety of it all. Wouldn’t it be cool to know we're all doing our part to make it a much better place for everyone around us? Everything always comes back around and hopefully when it does you’ll have done your part in the contribution playgrounds of life.

We all have to be somewhere. And as always… I’m just happy to be here.
