Your Guide to Get High Paying Opportunities via LinkedIn
For job seekers, consultants, and creators.
Since I quit my job, I’ve got job offers on LinkedIn (the irony).
But I’ve also got
- freelance clients
- students for my course
- customers for my products
Here’s exactly how you can attract high-paying opportunities on LinkedIn.
Why Should You Create on LinkedIn?
Because it’s where your three whales hang out:
- Recruiters
- Entrepreneurs
- High Net-worth Individuals (HNIs)
Let’s divide people into three groups and strategise for them.
- Job-seeker
- Consultant
- Creator
By consultant, we mean everyone who is providing a service (business owners, coaches, freelancers, etc).
1. Job Seeker:
Your intention is to be visible and reach out to the right set of people.
Do this by:
- Commenting on CXO’s posts to become visible
- Create content (only if you’re comfortable)
- DM the right way
More on #3…
DMing your CV or asking for an opportunity doesn’t help.
Treat the human on the other side like a real person… because they are one.
You want to get hired, right? For that, you have to show you’re worth it.
Use this template instead
“Hi,
*pleasantries*
I’m writing to you because I’ve been eyeing XX role at your company.
*mention why do you want to be in this company*
I resonate with this role as I’m skilled at XYZ.
I’d love to know more about this role and how can I add value to this company.
Regards”
Doesn’t this sound better than pushing your CV and telling an unknown person to refer you?
2. Consultants
Now, you have a service, and you want to attract the right clientele for it.
Do this by:
- Interacting in the comments with the big fish in your field. This way, you’ll also find other people who can be potential clients.
- Talk to potential clients about what problems they face and how can your product solve for it. Pro tip: Don’t pitch. Instead, present a solution.
- Please don’t spam people with info about your company. Keep a sheet of potential clients with their business info, look at what they’re up to, and DM/email them instead.
3. Creator
Your focus should be to create kickass content to build an audience.
These are the people who’d want to come back to read your stuff and maybe even invest in your products and services.
Two important things:
- being aware of important factors
- the work
1. Being aware of important factors.
Every time you write. I’m serious, EVERY single time, ask yourself:
- who is this for?
- why should they read this?
Maintain congruence here.
2. The work
Here are some quick action steps
- publish at least 4x/ week
- make first 3 lines catchy
- have a takeaway
- format well
Bonus Tips
Some extra points to help you get your content more traction.
Formatting:
- Short sentences
- Have enough white spaces
- Use bullets to make it more readable
Engagement:
- Reply to all comments in the first 1h (algorithm loves it)
- Have a CTA in the comments to build an email list
- Add personal stories but with a takeaway
