Your Glance Undresses
A somonka
cast down kajal eyes silken shawl dancing wayward quiver to my breath sweet as honey -soaks my mind taken by your scent -again
your glance undresses where is your intelligence how can I trust you my father has other plans skin deep -never good enough

Thank you for taking the time to read this prompted poetry piece. I have used a quote spark and written in in the uncommon form of a somonka, (two tankas, taking on two personas.) In this case, I have broken the rule of each tanka being a love letter to the other.

Quote Spark
I’ve never fooled anyone. I’ve let people fool themselves. They didn’t bother to find out who and what I was. Instead, they would invent a character for me. I wouldn’t argue with them. They were obviously loving somebody I wasn’t. ― Marilyn Monroe

SOMONKA:-
The somonka is basically two tankas(5–7–5–7–7 syllable format) written as two love letters to each other (one tanka per love letter). This form usually demands two authors, but it is possible to have a poet take on two personas.
