Your Friends Need You to Do This When You visit

And it’s the right thing to do

You want to be nice to your friend. You don't want to sound like an asshole. You want them to be comfortable when they come to visit. You want them to feel at home in your home.

Sometimes that means not saying what's on your mind because you don't want to make them feel uncomfortable even though it's making you feel very uneasy.

With the coronavirus pandemic still wreaking havoc in our worlds, numbers rising, and death rates going up, everybody is doing their best to keep themselves and their family safe.

Not knowing what to expect, what to believe, and what’s even happening — when it will go away if it ever goes away. This is a very difficult time for all of us.

This is a situation no one has control over except for some necessary precautions we can take to protect ourselves and those we love.

You might not believe it’s real or you might think you are young and immune to it but this type of thinking is reckless and careless.

Even if you are immune, others around you might not be so not taking it seriously is an unwise and selfish thing to do.

Wash your hands. This is what your friend wants you to do when you walk into their humble abode. Wash your damn hands for crying out loud. Don’t wait to be told. You are not a child.

As soon as you get to the home of someone, do not go straight to the couch. Go straight to the bathroom and wash your hands.

Wash your hands. Not only will it make your friend comfortable, but it is also the right thing to do. For the wellbeing of all.

Don’t go straight to touching things without washing your hands first. Do not go into the fridge without washing your hands. Do not touch the remote until you wash your damn hands. And do not touch them until you've washed your hands.

This thing is real. I know people who have gotten this virus. It's so easy to think “oh it won't happen to me’ until you are sick and fighting for your life. You could look and feel well but asymptomatic and walking around as if everything is ok.

You could unknowingly carry the virus and make someone you love very sick and not even realize what you've done.

Let’s say you visited and left and afterward they start noticing symptoms. Even if it’s not the coronavirus, it worsens their fears. And they can’t call you asking you why they are experiencing those symptoms especially if they were feeling fine before you got there.

What would they even say? “Hey I was fine before you came over but now I’ve gone through this entire box of tissue and I’m afraid you might have given me something”?

How would you feel if you went over to a friend's house, head straight to the fridge for a bottle of water and they stop you right there and tell you to go wash your hands?

You might feel some type of way about it. You might even get upset for being told what to do and that will automatically ruin the vibes of the day.

They might try to avoid the trouble and not say anything to you but they are uncomfortable the entire time you are there touching them and everything with your dirty hands. Maybe not dirty but you know what I'm trying to say.

If you go see someone with whom you are intimate, please wash your damn hands for goodness sake. A person who likes you a lot might not say “don't touch me go wash your hands” even if it’s really bothering them.

Do the right thing and wash your hands as soon as you arrive at someone's home. Leave people the way you find them or better. Don't leave someone susceptible to getting sick.

I had a friend visit me. They did not wash their hands. I said nothing about it but I was feeling uneasy the entire time. After they left, I felt mucus building up in my throat, my nose started running and my throat felt weird.

I immediately started to panic because I was fine before they came. Luckily for me, it wasn't anything serious but it could have been.

Sure, washing hands alone won't prevent a person from catching the virus but it still has to be done. Nobody knows where you've been or who you've come in contact with.

Do the right thing and wash your hands. It does not matter if you've been isolating yourself for months and haven't been around anybody. Wash your hands because it’s the smart thing to do. Wash your hands because you respect others.

When you go visit someone, wash your hands as soon as you get there because you care.

This holds especially true if you know the person has kids who live in the home. Washing your hands is the first thing to do. Don't go sit, don't go touching things.

Wash your hands because your feelings will be hurt if your friend calls you out. You won't like it so do the right thing. You should know better. This is not a joke. Lives are being lost. People are suffering so wash your hands.

Don’t wait to be told. Do it because you are a mature, sensible, and respectful person. Wash your hands even if you are perfectly fine. Your hands may still be nasty from touching those elevator buttons . There is no excuse. Wash your hands.

Your friend wants you to do this to make them feel safe at home.
