Your Favorite ‘Words’ You Wish Existed

Get ur fun and relational on.

Let’s be Lewis Carroll, collectively.

He was easily the greatest word creator in modern lit and his famous poem “The Jabberwocky” is a marvel of gibberish and meaning, merged.

’Twas brillig, and the slithy toves Did gyre and gimble in the wabe: All mimsy were the borogoves, And the mome raths outgrabe.

Of the 23 “words” above, nearly half are made-up gibberish yet the meaning of the stanza, and as importantly, the feel of it, is crystal clear. Brilliant!

As a writer’s flash mob, we can match the master word for word.

If you want to play along, just respond in the comments with a favorite made-up word and its definition.

I’ll assemble the gibberish and distribute the complete list to all those who participate.

Then the fun begins.

The call to action will be to use the gibberish words to create a comprehensible story (poem, prose, sonnet, whatever), a la a modern-day Lewis Carroll.

Yes, I know this is silly, but it’ll be fun.

I know too we’re living in a world currently overrun by fun, but if you try hard enough you can make a place in your presently fun-filled life for just a little more.

And who knows, maybe something even more lecticofferous than “The Jabberwocky” will result.
