Your Advice Isn’t for Everyone

Be okay with it.

Last week I gave my cousin advice on steps he should take when starting a business.

Naturally, the advice was tied to MY nuances, MY tendencies.

Not his.

In short, he’s best off listening to my advice, using the pieces that pertain to him and discarding the rest.

The same lesson can be applied when giving advice to others on Medium.

Your advice will apply:

  • 100% to a few
  • 50% to many
  • 0% to others

And that’s okay. The few that needed your advice will grateful and put it to good use. The others will find other advice that is better for them.

And there’s nothing at all wrong about that.

Be okay knowing that the advice you give is for a select few, not the masses. The select few are needed to build a following.
