TAKING ACTION
Your Actions Speak Louder Than Your Intentions
Ultimately, it’s what you do that truly matters
You’ve probably heard of the saying, ‘Some of the worst things ever committed, were done with the best of intentions’.
It basically means that sometimes, the intention doesn’t really jive with the actions or outcome that comes from that intention.
That’s why you have people saying they want to do good but in reality, what they’re doing is actually bad.
But when you think about it, were their intentions really good in the first place?
Maybe, maybe not.
For example, you have parents who are very protective of their children.
Their intentions are to make sure that their child is safe no matter what.
This could mean that the parents are constantly just watching over them, making sure they don’t fall down, always doing things for them, even the simplest of tasks.
While that sounds good because the child will not get hurt, the child is well taken care of, but in reality, it could actually be harmful for the child in the long run.
How?
Because the child will never learn how to be independent.
The child will never learn from making mistakes, from feeling pain, from feeling disappointment, from failures, and that is not good at all.
Were the intentions of the parents good? It seems like it.
But is the outcome actually good for all parties involved? Not at all.
What happens once the parents are too old to do anything? What happens when the child grows up to be an adult and realises that the world is nothing like the environment that they were brought up in?
What happens when they can no longer be spoon-fed?
How will they cope with the realities of life?
Again, good intentions, but not so good outcomes.
At the end of the day, your actions will be the ones that people see.
Your actions will be the one that will determine whether your intentions were indeed good in the first place.
Your actions will be the one that will leave a lasting impression — on yourself, on your family and friends, and on all those around you.
People can say a lot of things. It’s easy.
I can say that I’m gonna be a millionaire by the time I hit 40. But will I actually do anything to get myself there?
Will I start my own business? Will I make partner at a big firm? Will I buy and win the lottery?
Nothing I say will mean anything if I don’t have the actions to back it up.
An overweight person can say they’re gonna lose weight and become a bodybuilder, but if they don’t start working out or taking the necessary steps to do that, then it’s all just empty words.
Your actions will matter more than your intentions.
You can have all the intentions in the world but if you don’t put in the work, then those intentions will remain just that — intentions.
I’ve heard so many people say that they intend to do this or they intend to do that, but nothing happens.
Their intentions stay intentions.
They don’t take any action to make their intentions come to life, and that is something you should avoid.
If you have the intention to do something, then do it (as long as the intention does no harm to anyone).
Again, in the end, your actions speak louder than your intentions.
So, it’s time to get going.
