WRITING PROMPT RESPONSE
“You’ll Probably Never Meet My Cat”
March Six Word Photo Story Challenge: “Pet People”
The fussy cat that hates people.
Just after arriving in Namibia in 2015, I was told by my future boss I’d have to look after the house and her business as she was about to leave for a trip to the States a few days later.
My biggest worry was looking after her dog since I was scared of dogs. But then she also mentioned something I’d have to feed her cat but most probably I won’t see the cat ever, since she hates people and hides in the cupboard whenever strangers come to visit.
My boss went quickly into the shower and on her return to the kitchen, she almost got a heart attack.
“You mean this cat?” I asked.
The cat was curled up on my lap.
The beginning of a new relationship had started.
Mary Chang asked us to share our pet stories in the March writing prompt. While I never owned a pet, I still made a fair share of experiences with pets.
I decided to make a series out of this prompt because I got more stories to tell and experiences to share even though I never owned a pet.
This is the writing prompt if you would like to take part in it as well:
More of the series presenting my relationship with pets I never owned…
