You Won’t Be Disappointed With The Beautiful Badlands
Planning a trip to Toronto? Then you can’t miss scheduling a stop in Caledon to visit the Cheltenham Badlands!

What are the Cheltenham Badlands?
According to Wikipedia¹, Badlands are a type of dry terrain where softer sedimentary rocks and clay-rich soils have been eroded. You’ll note features such as steep slopes and minimal vegetation.
To a geologist, I’m sure the formation of the shale has a lot of science behind it. They can probably tell you all the intricate details of how erosion, rills, and gullies took part in shaping this unique area.
To a clueless person like me, all I know is that the badlands look incredibly beautiful!
How Do I Get There?
The Cheltenham Badlands are located in Caledon, Ontario. From Toronto, you can take ON-410 N and get there in under an hour.
It’s open 7 days a week!

What’s the Admission Process?
The Badlands was free when I went there! Admittedly, that was about 10 years ago. Since then, the Badlands was temporarily closed for a period of time. There were too many visitors and the area was being destroyed.
The good news is that the Badlands are now open again to the public. The bad news? Well, it’s not necessarily bad. You just now have to pay an admission fee and reserve a time to go. Your reservation fee includes a parking spot and gives you 1.5 hours to explore.
If you go from Monday to Thursday, the fee is $11.30. It’s a better bet to go during low peak times. If you decide to go on a Friday, Saturday, Sunday, or holiday, you can pay $22.60.² That’s double the price!
You can reserve online on the Credit Valley Conservation website.
Here is a stunning landscape you don’t see every day.
