You Will Be Hearing From The Youths Soon

The social security problem that no one is getting mad at yet

Have you heard? The silent news going around since last year is Social Security benefits will be running out by 2034. I know what you are thinking and I agree that it isn’t a good thing.

Older people looking to retire after that time will have their baskets full of worries that our government might not want to take responsibility for. However, that’s not the biggest issue that’s going to pop up.

The elephant in the Room

The obvious issue with SS payments is the setup of the accumulation of the funds. Currently, the younger people are paying for the older folk’s retirement from their labor but they won’t enjoy the same benefits when they get older.

Furthermore, most youths are completely disengaged from the older population. The issue is there will come a time when all these youths will start asking “why am I paying for something that I won’t benefit from?” This is one huge elephant just staring down at our faces.

Too many hands in the cookie jar

The government claims that Social Security benefits are fully funded but some journalists say that there is no money in the social security trust fund. If this is true, then we have much bigger problems than we can imagine.

Many are working and paying SS diligently with the expectation of retiring one day with this being returned. The government will have to answer to millions of angry persons who will want their money since they have earned it.

Also, there are claims that the government, over the years, has ‘borrowed’ money from the fund for other purposes other than what it was intended for. According to our government, this is normal but I doubt most of us agree with that.

Finally, the issues of today regarding social security benefits and payments for present and future generations will need to be resolved as soon as possible. It is a sleeping beast of a problem that will growl louder as the current youths grow older.
