You Think You’ll Never Be Successful? You’re Right.
It’s True That Actions Are More Important Than Words. But Both Actions And Words Are Born Of Our Thoughts. So It’s They Who Decide Our Fate.
Some people have happy relationships, people who run marathons, others who are international rock stars, and yet others who have managed to overcome a severe illness.
When we look at ourselves in relation to such people, we either feel inspired or discouraged. We can take an example from these people or see them as absolute exceptions that have nothing to do with us.
But regardless of whether these examples inspire or discourage us, it does not change what we do and how our destiny develops.
If we feel inspired but then fail to act, nothing is gained for us. Of course, despondency does not make our lives better either.
Of both possibilities, despondency is the more honest option. We say to ourselves: I can never do that anyway. Of course, that is true. If I don’t think I can create something, I don’t even try, and then I can’t succeed.
Being inspired, on the other hand, can harm us in a much more subtle way. We look at this hundred-meter runner who breaks all world records and think: This guy is incredible. You can see from that what a person is capable of when he really wants something.
For a few moments, we feel good. An inkling arises in us that we, too, might be capable of something extraordinary. We even believe that we are. But then we do nothing.
A few months or years later, we still live our lives as before. If we love our life as it has been all these years, that is no problem. But if we’ve always been somehow dissatisfied and felt that there should be more, we are in trouble.
Over the years, we have always been content to be inspired by other successful people. We looked up to them, and as time went by, we believed less and less that these superhumans could have anything to do with us.
Inspiration without subsequent action leads to disillusionment.
Sooner or later, the inspired and the discouraged are the same — both stagnate on a level they are not comfortable with. And both believe that they themselves are not made for success.
The older we get, the less we believe that we can still find love, run a marathon, or become wealthy. With every year that we do not realize one of our dreams, this conviction grows.
And the more robust the conviction becomes, the more evidence we get that it is right. A vicious circle of negative self-image, pessimism, and self-fulfilling prophecies keeps us trapped in the eternally same status quo.
Those who think that they cannot achieve great things will never try and therefore, will never really succeed.
Those who believe that they can achieve everything may also fail. But only he who believes will dare to try. And only the one who dares to try can win something.
You think success is only for others but not for you? Then you’re right.
Unless you change your beliefs, you cannot change your life.
But the good news is, if you can change your beliefs you’ll change your fate too.
What will you choose?
