Why you should read a poem during your break time

So, I like writing poetry

I have written lots of stories, articles and blog posts, but I had never thought of writing poetry before because I had barely read any poems.

After I started writing on Medium, I read a lot of poetry written in English and I found it so creative and inspired me to write poems.

I was not a big fan of poetry, but I am amazed that there are so many beautiful poems here on Medium.

I am a fulltime writer and I write for my clients or just for my blogs. I realised that reading poetry is a good thing to do during my break time and it could be good for anybody irrespective of what their job is.

Poetry is usually quite short and so you don’t need to have a lot of time to read it. It can be very inspiring and sometimes you want to read it over and over to really understand the meaning and message.

People like reading and some read because they need some information. But all of the readers are not always reading because they search for something.

People also read because they love reading and they want to get inspired by somebody’s stories, share them and be empathetic to the writers.

You may like to read the news during your coffee break to get the latest information or to enhance your knowledge.

But at the same time, reading short stories and poems also helps your brain to get refreshed and you will be more productive after the break.

Or you can even look at your work and business with more creative eyes.

I like writing relatively short stories and poetry which only takes a couple of minutes to read. It is the right size for a break. I love reading short stories as well.

So when I feel tired after hours of writing, I sit on the sofa with a cup of tea and read other writers stories with my tablet. I often get inspiration through this short reading.

I hope you can also enjoy my short stories and poetry including Haiku — just like a slice of cake — to nurture and refresh your tired brain.
