You Should Consider Starting A Blog
Blogging matters because it’s an opportunity for you to express yourself

You should consider starting a blog. Why?
Simple…
Blogging matters.
Writing matters.
Do you want to know something? Blogging is writing. And has proven to be very therapeutic. It has for me, at least. It’s a way that I can say what I want, how I want when I want. I can express my thoughts, concerns, and rant if I wanted to. There’s freedom in blogging compared to writing a book for a publisher. Blogging means you are both the writer and the editor. And that can be a very good thing, in my opinion.
Blogging is more than just throwing some words on WordPress, Medium, Substack, Blogger, Squarespace, or wherever you have your blog hosted. It’s another form of writing. And it matters just like writing a good novel.
Blogging matters because it’s an opportunity for you to express how you feel or to talk about a topic you love without the hassle of having to get a literary agent or a publishing contract.
To be honest, that’s one reason why I love writing blog posts (sometimes called articles or stories also). I don’t have to wait to sign with an agent or look for a publisher.
Not all blogs are written well or cover topics that I like. I’m sure the same can be said for you too. Blogging matters because it allows writers from all over to do what they love: write!
So, if that’s the case do you want to know why you- yes, you -should consider blogging?
Here are three solid reasons why I believe you should start a blog today.
You can reach a lot of people
The internet is cool if you really think about it. Because of the technology available today we can connect with people from around the world in real-time. What I write in a blog post — just like this post — could inspire someone thousands of miles away to start blogging. And I may or may not never know this person, hear about it, or talk to them directly. But the possibilities of making a difference beyond just where I am are amazing. And worth it.
You are a writer
If you are reading Positive Blogging (that’s my blog if you didn’t already know) then I’m going to assume you are a blogger or writer or interested in writing and blogging. Or maybe you’re just here because you stumbled across my blog on Google (that would be awesome, by the way) and thought the title of this post was interesting. I don’t know. Either way, if you’re a writer you should be blogging.
Why? Because it gives you the ability to reach a wider audience with the written word. Gone are the days where writers could only reach people in print. With the digital world open and up for grabs you have the possibility now of reaching hundreds, thousands, or millions of people with the written word.
One blog post could change a life.
One blog post could reach more people than all the sales of all your books combined if it happens to go viral. That’s wild to think about, right?
If you aren’t yet, why aren’t you blogging?
Blogging helps establish authority
A good blog can help give you credibility in your niche. Positive Blogging is in the writing and blogging niche (with the occasional post on the many different facets of life tossed in) and I hope it becomes a place where writers and bloggers can come to grow, connect, and learn.
I wrote another blog post that lists blogs about writing that are worth following. You can find that here. A few of them are very well established with much credibilities, such as Jeff Goins ( GoinsWriter.com). Most bloggers know of him. He’s established himself as an authority in the niche of writing and creative work.
What’s your niche? Blogging could be a great way to help you establish credibility and reach people far beyond your own zip code.
Conclusion
This post doesn’t give all the reasons why you should consider starting a blog. But I do think it gives some solid reasons why you should consider doing it today.
If you have a blog already or maybe you started one because of reading this blog post leave a comment below with your link so that I, and others, can check it out.
That’s another cool thing about bloggers. Most of us love to connect with other bloggers to learn, grow, and build connections. I can’t speak for every blogger in the world. I certainly am always willing!
