Peak and off-peak fares
Peak fares are charged weekly on trains arriving at western terminals between 6 AM and 10 AM. Trains departing from western terminals between 4 PM and 8 PM also require a peak fare. CityTicket
Peak CityTickets are available for $7 each. CityTicket is valid for travel within zones 1 and 3 on the Long Island Railroad. You can purchase CityTickets before boarding, except at Willets Point, where you can buy them on board and use them on the day of purchase. Long Island Rail Road. (2023, October 20). CityTicket was not valid for travel to Far Rockaway initially because the station is in Zone 4 (despite being within the city limits), and the Far Rockaway Branch passes through Nassau County. In May 2023, MTA officials announced they would expand CityTicket to Far Rockaway.
