POETRY / HAIKU

You Held My Sorrow

Thank you to my readers on my one-year anniversary

Photo by Marc Schaefer on Unsplash

Reflecting on my Journey; healing, becoming Blooming through writing

It all started when I fell, broke, shattered, wilted I lay in my pain

And I held myself As I wept; and you held me Too with your safe space

You cradled my words As I released them to you You held my sorrow

So that I could rise Again; emptied of pained past Open to receive

Love of self, others Ashes turned to joyful play Love of life returned.

Today marks one year since I started writing on the platform; found the courage to share my insides with a sea of strangers, many now turned friends.

I couldn’t have imagined what a powerful journey in becoming this chapter would be and I am grateful and proud that I took the plunge.

I heard about the platform a year prior and knew that it called to me, but certainly not in the way that it has. I have often written, even publicly, throughout my life, but never in this manner — personal, raw, and outward from deep inside my being!

There’s something to be said about writing from the inside out, from the very core of our being and feeling; it undoubtedly connects us to others who resonate with our lived experiences.

I had a hunch that it would, hence I created this publication, Being Known, but I don’t think I realized the extent of the connection that is possible when we really dare to share. I am beyond humbled and touched and proud and grateful for the experience I have had here as a writer and a human, for the Being Known community, and for all of my readers who so delicately held my words and I this year.

Thank you from the bottom of my heart for welcoming me with your open arms, for catching me when I fell, and for celebrating with me as I continue to bloom and take flight. I look forward to the next chapter with all of you as I soar into year two! Imagine the possibilities…

I’d like to invite the following friends to celebrate my one year with my favorite poetic form — the haiku — using the prompt; ‘dare to share!’
