You Conditioned Me

To love you unconditionally

Photo by Pablo Merchán Montes on Unsplash

You tell me you love me You give me hopes and flowers You star gaze with me at night Together we spend days and hours

I am not sure if I want this You ask me why You give me reasons to love And more reasons to fly

You take care of me when I am sick You tell me you miss me I beg you not to lift me But you still comfort me Bending on your knees I push, I throw, I resist Holding me closer, you persist

I take a deep breath Closing my eyes I take a step towards the abyss Looking at the stars Or our favorite shop or food Or clothes or place or road Every thing reminds me of you now

So I call you to tell you You smile No You smirk There is something different It is a smirk in triumph

Few days after I am accustomed to respond In the way you always wanted Even when I had resisted I call you now But you are not here When I’ve started to care You seem to disappear

But the stars still make my eyes shine The places still make my heart skip a beat And that movie still gets me like it used to before Now even though you are not here I respond in the way I used to do When you were…

I still smile I still feel the rush once in a while Because you conditioned me to feel this way You conditioned me to dream, even in the day You conditioned me to reminisce After seeing the morning dew You conditioned me to miss you And love you Unconditionally.
