You Can’t Get Any Lower Than Rock Bottom
The Only Way to Go is Up
It was just last spring that I reached rock bottom financially. I left my job 18 months previously, taking a severance package that I thought would be enough to springboard my consulting business, Synergy Personal Development. However, I was earning far below my monthly expenses. Even my side work wasn’t covering the monthly nut. I wasn’t sure where to turn. As I looked at the bottom of my bank account and rising credit card bills, I kept hearing over and over again that success finds us at our lowest points.
You are the miracle of birth

As I was contemplating how to get myself out of this pit, I asked God, “Ok, God,’ I said, ‘I am at the bottom. What comes next?”
Within a couple of weeks, I was contacted by an internal recruiter for my current company. They had a position available that was a perfect fit for me. If you’ve never worked with recruiters here is a quick overview:
Often, external recruiters are just looking to create a pool of candidates, no matter how unqualified they are. The purpose of this exercise is to sow value to their customer, the company hiring for the position. The recruiter has already created their short list. Newsflash: Your not on it.
Internal recruiters, on the other hand, are interested in filling positions quickly with quality candidates who they perceive as good fits for the company’s needs and its culture. Needless to say, being recruited by an internal recruiter is a much faster, higher quality track to getting the job. And that is what happened to me.
Your spiritual source has no ulterior motives, just your success.
I had no idea how I was going to escape the pit at the end of last March, but just four weeks later, I had a meeting scheduled to review my offer and decide on a start date. This position is providing me with the experiences I need to grow myself and broaden my vision. I have a clear understanind of how to make my mission of spreading positivity and a feeling of self worth succeed.
Some key lessons I’ve gained from this experience which can also benefit you are:
1) Never give up on yourself. As my coach JB Glossinger says, “You are the miracle of birth.” There is a purpose for your life and though times are tough, keep fighting. The trials and tribulations you are experiencing have one thing in common; they are there to make you stronger.
2) Believe. Living with faith allows you to believe that the universe is conspiring for you to succeed. Some say let go and let God. That is a good way to think about it. Trust your spiritual source to guide you in the right direction. It is consistent and has no ulterior motives, just your success.
3) Reach out. There are resources available to you if you would only reach out. Ask your friends. Do research. Heck, you can even ask me! Others will provide a fresh perspective. With the context they provide you will have fresh insights into how to solve your problems.
4) Take action. A step in any direction is better than living in the paralysis caused by fear and anxiety.
If you see rock bottom just over the horizon. Buckle up and get ready for massive change. You will be better for it.
