You Can’t Convince Anyone to Believe What You Believe

If a person is not called to believe, then nothing you do will convince them otherwise

The only reason you want to convince someone to believe what you believe is that you know what that belief has done for you. When a person doesn’t know what that belief can do for them, it’s almost impossible to convince them to believe.

Believing is a process where a person sees.

Believing in anything — God, prayer, meditation, crystals, etc, requires a person to already know that thing or see what that thing has done for them or someone else.

A person may believe a crystal has the power to heal them or protect them from negative spirits, but if you do not know crystals or your crystal did you heal you or remove negative spirits, you may find it hard to believe in it. If you do not know the power of prayer or meditation, you will find it hard to believe that it can change your life.

God may save a person from a crash, but if they don’t believe in God, they will say they are just lucky. But if I’m in a crash and I know it was God who moved me out of harm’s way, then I believe.

The only reason you want to convince someone to believe what you believe is that you know what that belief has done for you.

Before you try to convince anyone to believe something they can’t even comprehend, remember where you started. Maybe you didn’t always believe, and it took you knowing or seeing before you could believe.

Personally, I always believed in God, but I didn’t always see how awesome God was. I didn’t know until I drew very close to him and felt his Spirit move through me, which caused me to live differently. You will struggle to believe a thing like that if it hasn’t happened to you and if it’s happened to you too, then it’s much easier to believe.

If you want to get someone you love to believe in what you believe, then you must show them how it works for you. Seeing is believing. People need to see it before they believe it.

When it comes to God especially, you can’t convince anyone because you don’t have the kind of power to make people believe what they can’t understand.

It will be hard to convince anyone to believe in something they haven’t seen or felt or experienced for themselves.

The decision to believe in anything is personal.

Even though my parents introduced me to God and prayer, no one convinced me to believe. I found those who tried to convince me to believe in God a bit annoying. I got away from them.

I didn’t like it very much when prayer felt like a chore. I had to go on my own and get to know God for myself. I prayed to get to know God. I had to experience the benefits of prayer and meditation for myself before I could believe in them. They couldn’t be forced on me, or I’d reject them.

You can’t convince or force anyone to believe what you believe. Belief is personal. This does not mean you can’t talk about your beliefs. You have the freedom to talk. You can talk about why you believe what you believe and leave it at that. You can talk about your beliefs in a way that’s not intended to convince or force others to believe. You can talk to share.

When it comes to God especially, you can't convince anyone because you don't have the kind of power to make people believe what they can't understand. God is the only one who can convince someone to believe.

This is why people need not even try too hard to win souls for Christ. Trying too hard never works well. It will always create resistance that pushes people further away from you and also from God, which is the opposite of what God would want. Winning souls should be about telling people how Christ saved your soul and what God has done for you. It’s the same with any spiritual practice that you would like others to try.

People must know why you believe and what your belief has done for you so they too can believe.

When it comes to God, it’s important to note that if God hasn’t called a person to himself, then nothing you do will convince them otherwise. God needs to work in a person’s life for them to believe and sometimes it takes hitting rock bottom for that to happen. And you need to step back and allow that to happen.

This doesn’t mean you give up on people; it means you simply let them do what’s best for them and keep doing what you are called to do.

Everybody’s journey is different, and you may be required to play no part, a small part, or a big part in someone else’s journey toward believing.

If you love someone and you want them to know God, pray more, or maybe add meditation to their spiritual practice because you want them to find peace, joy, and love from within, you only need to focus on yourself and do what you’ve been called to do. It’s likely that when a person sees how much your life is improving and how much peace, joy, and love you have, they will be curious to learn more.

God uses people to plant a seed in the mind of man so that when the seed sprouts, they will look at it and tend to it, but sometimes the seed never sprouts, and that is okay.

You keep doing exactly what you’ve been called to do and trust that others will be called when the time is right.
